Stephan! you are so funny! ROFL!Stephan wrote:Ow yeah! Hiro Protagonist always in hot pursuit by black-tied agents from the evil publisher-empire ruling the world. He tries to record whenever he can, wherever he can (with his portable shallenberg zero-noise device). Fleeing, finding cover in a zoo's chimpansee cage. Finally some rest to record the next chapter!Perhaps I will write a short piece about an outlaw LibriVox reader. But it will be strictly fictional!!
The piece later ends with him recording "End of Chapter. End of.." - then he dies. But before the blackties can do anything, the thing is already fileshared all over the net. They lost and they know it.

Name is from SnowCrash though. For a quite some time my favorite book.
Chipdoc, hehe, have you read the Cryptonomicon? Its awesome! Unfortunatly your link is not the cryptonomicon, although it says so.
Its not even a chapter of it, it?s an old Essay of Stephenson (still worth reading imho).
If Neal would give cryptonomicon to the public domain, i?d be the first to read it.
You might look at it otherwise, because english is some of yours mothertongue, also some of you have read more than i did, but Stephenson to me has, how do i say, the coolest, most cunning, sparking english and style to write. Its his cunning humor i love him for.
And now the topic has become totally hi-jacked! Yay!

Oh I actually own a copy of In The Beginning... A fine example of reading something on the net, and being so impressed that I went out and bought it. I felt a duty to support someone who would write such a thing! I've also got Snow Crash, The Diamond Age, and Cryptonomicon and have enjoyed them all.
Unfortunately I don't have much time to read these days, so I haven't gotten into any of the newer stuff from the dark prince of hacker fiction.
And I should commend you on the language thing, Stephan. I couldn't even buy a train ticket in German; your English is better than most native-speakers over here! Of course, Americans are notorious for butchering our own language... or at least the language we stole from the Brits!
