Lord Arthur Savile's Crime And Other Stories by Oscar Wilde (1854 - 1900) .
Lord Arthur Savile's Crime and Other Stories is a collection of short stories. Mystery, revelation, and irony are recurring themes throughout each story. Typically satirical, this collection exemplifies Wilde's sharp wit and dark humour with great comic effect.

Stories in this collection include:
Lord Arthur Savile's Crime,
The Canterville Ghost,
The Sphinx Without a Secret,
The Model Millionaire, and
The Portrait Of Mr W H. (Summary by Alex Lau)
This project is complete. All associated files can be found on the catalog page: https://librivox.org/lord-arthur-saviles-crime-and-other-stories-by-oscar-wilde/
  • Target completion date: 2013-Jul-31
  • Text source (only read from this text!): http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/773
  • Type of proof-listening required (Note: please read the PL FAQ): standard

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the amount of languishing projects (and hence the amount of files on our hard-pressed server), we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't managed to record anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).

Please don't download files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

done!

two things: id like you to tweak the summary a little so that you can claim it all to yourself instead of using wikipedia. we are not all agreed on the use of wikipedia in our summaries, but fact is that they are using a different license than we do and this could cause problems, for example when we use the summary on the cd booklet and release that booklet in the public domain.
any time you have the chance before cataloging time is fine.

the second thing is that your file name is awfully long. you are welcome to keep it if you like it that way, but you are also welcome to shorten it a bit, down to maybe "arthursaville_xx_wilde.mp3" if you like :)

please let me know if you need anything!

Thanks so much for MC'ing this and for your helpful suggestions, Carolin :)
I've changed the filename to loradarthursavile_xx_wilde.mp3
I will change the summary soon, so that I can claim full credit for it :D

Hi Alex

Just a few small slips -

@09:49 "but perhaps" - stumble on this; edit missed.

@13:31 Paradox lost! You read "understanding" for "misunderstanding".

@22:33 Omitted: "My address is --"

Fluent reading with nicely characterised dialogue, as usual.

ETA - Don't forget to note the file durations. I've timed this at 31:04.

All the best

Hi Alex

Two corrections are needed:

@03:12 ..."tearful" substituted for "fearful"

@05:38(-05:54) Repeated sentence: "The wild, turbid ... emotional agony." First version needs deleting.

There are a couple of mispronounced non-English words in Chapter IV, but they are not jarring, so I do not note them.

Very entertaining again, thank you.
