Hello everybody,
I created a page, where you can check tech specs for one minute test.
The page is http://ekzemplaro.org/librivox/sound_check/
You can check mp3 file's tech specs, which are uploaded in tests folder at LibriVox.
Your feedback is welcome. Thanks in advance.
Cheers,
Masa

Masa san, I don't think this is a good idea. There are other issues than tech specs that cannot be checked with a software, such as plosives. For checking tech specs we already have the checker.
And we don't want to replace the human touch with software for everything

Agreed. A computer program like Checker or a web site cannot check everything. It must have human ears. I suppose this would be fine for those who don't want to download Checker, but they'd still need an OK in the forum to know that someone actually listened to it.
That said, I couldn't get your page to work. It didn't show any specs. Also, you say to put in the file name - is it only looking in the tests folder, or can I use another folder, and do I have to put in the full URL or just the file name?
HOWEVER, if we decide this is OK to proceed, all these things about your page should probably be discussed in a new thread so as not to clutter up this one.

Hello everybody,
Thank you for your messages.
As the the thread title shows, my page checks only tech specs. Noises & plosives must bechecked by human.
Be careful not to enter blank before the filename.
Cheers,
Masa

Split this off.
I did get it to work now. I don't know if I had an extra space or not before.
I don't understand the volume test. You'll need to make some sort of explanation of what it means. That's one thing I like about Checker: it gives an explanation of what is wrong, and why.
You'll need to include instructions to upload to the test folder. Also, I tried a test that had spaces in the file names, and it didn't work, but gave no error message to tell me what I did wrong.

Hello Tricia san,
Thank you for your feedback.
I explain what is done behind the page.
1) If test_ekzemplaro.mp3 is submitted
The data is fetched from http://upload.librivox.org/share/uploads/tests/test_ekzemplaro.mp3.
2) tech specs are checked using soxi
soxi test_ekzemplaro.mp3
3) volume is checked using mp3gain
mp3gain test_ekzemplaro.mp3
Know bug, soxi somtimes returns 129 kbps.
Your feedback is welcome.
If you have an iPad or an Android tablet. This page will be useful to you.

For the moment if the volume is between 86dB and 92dB, I showed OK.TriciaG wrote:I don't understand the volume test. You'll need to make some sort of explanation of what it means. That's one thing I like about Checker: it gives an explanation of what is wrong, and why.

It worked for me. Very interesting and nice. I would recommend using the actual dB level reported from MP3 instead of their suggested change amount.
