Tom wanted to know if he could read an intro to TYBTM by Jack London. It was either as an addition or a whole extra short, he didn't care which.
Anyone can read accurately. I read with great expression.

Tom - it would be much easier on the MC if this were submitted to the short story (or non-fiction?) collection rather than add it on here. This would have to be changed to a group project, have another section added, etc. - whereas it would fit easily in one of the short works collections.TomCrawford wrote:Here is the Jack London Intro:

It is found in http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/1669
Your blurb could add something like: "Jack London, who followed Dana by half a century, wrote an introduction to a later edition of _Two Years Before the Mast_. London had some sailing experience as well as a well-known novel _The Sea Wolf_, a nautical story and would have been a natural choice. We have appended that introduction, narrated by a different reader. "
If you want me to make any changes to the narration, just let me know. If you decide not to use it, please let me know that as well and I will submit it to short stories or some such. You wouldn't have to even say why. tc

JC's upload folder shows section 43 uploaded in January, and no section 42 as yet. Is that correct? If so, the MW should be updated.

Nuts. I just recorded 43. So I have 43, I don't have 42? (I realize this is making you answer your own question, but I think you may have better access to the answer than I do.)

Arrgh! It is so. That's what I get for accidentally marking 42 complete! But I am of good cheer. I'm starting a Calvin's institutes study on Wednesday. (If that seems irrelevant, just ignore. It makes perfect sense to me) I will try and read the epilogue as one piece so as to get it done. You know, as I was reading it, I said to myself, "I could've sworn I've already read this."

Thank you for accepting me!
I just had a listen to section 39. It's really good! (PL OK)
I'll soon catch up with the rest of the sections!

I have some notes for Section 40 for you to decide what needs editing, and what is fine as is:
The intro goes:
Chapter 33 of Two Years Before the Mast. This LibriVox recording is in the Public Domain.
Chapter 33 of Two Years Before the Mast, by Richard Henry Dana Jr. [...]
instead of
Chapter 33 of Two Years Before the Mast. This LibriVox recording is in the Public Domain.
Two Years Before the Mast, by Richard Henry Dana Jr. Chapter 33 [...]
At ~09:13 the text "and the helm was going hard up and hard down, constantly" was read "and the helm was going hard up and hard down, consistently"
At ~11:09 the text has "lat. 50° 27' S., lon. 62° 13' W.". I think the measurements should be read "50 degrees 27 minutes", "62 degrees 13 minutes", that is, using "minutes" instead of "feet". What do you think?
Also the same at ~13:38 "lat. 36° 41' S., lon. 38° 08' W."
There's a repetition at ~14:52 and ~15:08 "Shirts, frocks, drawers, trousers, jackets, stockings, of every shape and color, wet and dirty,— many of them mouldy from having been lying a long time wet in a foul corner,— these were all washed and scrubbed out"
At ~22:28 "and states of feeling on board shipboard", I think the "board" is superfluous ?

For Section 41, depending on how you choose to read the measurements, there are the following instances:
~02:38 - lat. 25° 59' S., lon. 27° 0' W
~04:46 - lat. 20° 28' S., lon. 29° 08' W.
~05:33 - lat. 3° 55' S., lon. 32° 35' W.
Otherwise, PL OK!
~02:38 - lat. 25° 59' S., lon. 27° 0' W
~04:46 - lat. 20° 28' S., lon. 29° 08' W.
~05:33 - lat. 3° 55' S., lon. 32° 35' W.
Otherwise, PL OK!
