Aesop's Fables, Volume 1 (Fables 1-25)

I thought that the idea of doing Aesop's Fables was charming, but was daunted by the fact that there are 284 of the things. Thanks to Annie for the elegant solution of breaking them up into Volumes of 25 Fables each. That'll allow us to read each Fable as an individual chapter. It'll make for short readings, which should prove a comfortable way for new folks to get their feet wet in the strange new format of reading aloud into your computer. A nice side benefit is that even folks with modem lines should be able to upload these without too much trouble. Most are less than 2 minutes long. Feel free to take a bunch of them!

Yea!!! Looks great Chip. Only suggestion I have is to ask readers to say at the end of recording "end of [title]" and leave a few seconds of silence.

Could I please have 01-06 and 01-17 for a start? Chosen completely at random.

Hello, I'm new to LibriVox; looking forward to recording some good books and stories. I've done some informal recording of books before, but thought I should start with something short to see if I can do it acceptably well and figure out the logistics. I read over the information for new readers and would like to start. Shall I record some fables and send them? Anything else I should know about or do first?

Welcome to LibriVox, Joplin!

Why don't I assign you the first two fables, THE FOX AND THE GRAPES and THE GOOSE THAT LAID THE GOLDEN EGGS. They're both incredibly short - probably around a minute each. This way you can get your feet wet without a huge investment of time, and if something needs to be corrected then rereading the whole thing won't be such a trial.

Thanks for coming in to volunteer. It's great to have fresh voices in the mix!

OK, since I have the day off tomorrow, I think I can get a few of these out, AND do my Black Beauty chapters, AND finish the Rime of the Ancient Mariner. I think these will be fun! If I could have these two sections please...

Thanks for managing the project, Chip!

I really hope that some of the new (or more shy) members will join in on this one. The fables are short and sweet which makes for a chance to practice without a huge time commitment.

Yeah, when I saw this I wanted to go crazy and claim a whole bunch of them. Since I have a bunch of other stuff to record (and don't want to get too backed up) and knew this was going to be a place to get some new people to jump in, I backed off a little.
