Mr. Justice Raffles by E.W. Hornung (1866 - 1921) .

This project is now complete! All audio files can be found on our catalog page: http://librivox.org/mr-justice-raffles-by-e-w-hornung-2/
A.J. Raffles is a British gentleman thief of some renown who, in this, the hero's final adventure, ironically demonstrates a sense of morality by teaching a London East End loan shark a lesson. The book was later made into a movie, as well as a British television series. (Summary by Cathy Barratt)
  • Target completion date: 2012-Jul-01
  • Text source (only read from this text!): http://gutenberg.org/ebooks/9806
  • Type of proof-listening required (Note: please read the PL FAQ): standard

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the amount of languishing projects (and hence the amount of files on our hard-pressed server), we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't managed to record anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).

I've loved the Raffles stories since I was a kid, so I'd be overjoyed to be DPL on this. :)

Oh Nullifidian, this is gonna be fun! This reminds me of the Arsene Lupin piece I did earlier this year, and it'll all be over waaay too soon.

First chapter is up

Merry Christmas, by the way (in keepin' wit' the situation...)

KD, you'll notice I've just uploaded a new version of chapter 1. I recorded Levy's name differently in that chapter than in subsequent ones, so just rerecorded a small section.

No time change

Cathy

EDIT: And a new chapter 5, which I thought was too fast ;0)

So far, chapters 1 and 2 are PL OK.

Chapter 3 is missing a line at about 8:40:

"I come out of my British shell as the humble hero of the affair at the other Savoy. I crab my hotel. They swear by theirs. I go to see their rooms."

Other than that, everything is perfect.

It's all very well read, and I'm enjoying it a lot.

Chapter 4 is OK.

Chapter 5 has a section repeated twice at 12:33: "That's an aneroid under the lamp-bracket."

Chapter 6 is OK.

Chapter 7 is OK.

Chapters 8-11 are PL OK!

P.S. I took the liberty of correcting the title of chapter 12, which is "A Midsummer Night's Work", not "A Midsummer Night's Dream". It's correct in the chapter heading within the body of the text, but someone made a mistake in the table of contents. And I checked it against a scanned version to make doubly sure that "Work" was the correct word. :)
