Torreblanca wrote:Hi Leni,

I recently uploaded a recording I did for another section within Librivox. I was advised by Karen to upload it here.

The text I read is here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1YW-uMMB-tmhCu2gPu6CUlfcl4fkRWe2U7FS-_1GCn6E/edit?hl=en_US&authkey=CKmznboL&pli=1
The authors were: The Grimm Brothers
The name of the work: Pulgarcito
Duration: ~16 minutes
The name of the MP3 is: msw001_pulgarcito_grimm_ct.mp3

This is my first time recording. My name may remain as 'Torreblanca' throughout the site. I do have a web site: http://www.torreblanca.ca

Hope this is all you need. Take care,

César
Leni, the original text source is here: http://www.cuentosdegrimm.com/015-pulgarcito.htm

I didn't listen all the way through the file, just a quick check. Tech specs are correct, volume is good, no plosives. File's exact time is 16:07

Ooops I am very sorry, I meant to post this in the Multilingual Poetry.
I will take myself over there immediately and please just ignore this post:

Hi,
I would like to read a Latin poem for the collection, but I am not sure about public domain status.
The poem was written by Catullus in the first century BC, but the Latin editor was E. T. Merill in 1893 and he lived from 1860 – 1936.
The poem is now hosted by Perseus Tufts (among others) who seem to be claiming a Creative Commons licence on their site:
http://www.perseus.tufts.edu/hopper/text?doc=Catul.+13&fromdoc=Perseus%3Atext%3A1999.02.0003
I am recording in the UK ...
Can you advise me on whether I could record this or on where I should look for more information?
Thanks lots,
Mair

Pulgarcito:

Intro is read:
"[Title] (then in Spanish) This is a Librivox recording. All Librivox Recordings are in the public domain. For more information or to volunteer, please visit Librivox.org. [Title] by [author]."
Doesn't conform to first post (doesn't say what language it is read in, author not read before disclaimer, and title repeated after disclaimer).

Otherwise OK. :)
School fiction: David Blaize
Exploration: The First Four Voyages of Amerigo Vespucci
Serial novel: The Wandering Jew
Medieval England meets Civil War Americans: Centuries Apart
Humor: My Lady Nicotine

Hi Erica,

I see that you are uploading more files. Please DO NOT use Hangeul in your filename! As you can see, it breaks the links and we will have to change them! Before you upload anything more, please change your filenames to roman alphabet!
Cheers, Ava.

Hello, Erica, and welcome to Librivox

Thank you for your interest in this project. However, there are a few problems with your submissions that we will need to sort out.

First, as Availle told you, we can't accept files with names in non-roman alphabets. So you would need to reupload the files with names in Roman alphabet. If I understood correctly, you uploaded .txt files with the names, but you didn't reupload the audio files with the new names. Also, there can be no spaces in the names. See request in the first post:

File name all in lowercase: msw001_[sectiontitle]_[author's last name]_[your initials].mp3

There are no spaces, only underscores.

We need to make sure the text you are reading is in the Public Domain. The link to the text that you sent is just a .txt uploaded by yourself; we would need a link from somewhere on the internet where the text is, preferably stating that the text is in the public domain.

Since I can't download the files, I cannot check the technical aspect to see if it's ok. However, I will repeat what was suggested in your "New here" thread: we suggest you do the 1-minute test ( http://wiki.librivox.org/index.php/1-Minute_Test ), so we can make sure all the technical aspects are ok. Please post your test in the Listeners and Editors Wanted forum, for faster feedback.

Also, as specified in the first message, I need to know under what name/pseudonym you'd like to appear in the catalog.

Thanks again! :)
Leni

HI Leni,

here's the wikipedia link to the author (1900 - 1943): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hyun_Jin-geon
According to this, he did start publishing in 1920, so it's just possible that those short stories are pd in the US, but I'm not sure (especially as there is no Korean wikipedia site - not that I could read that of course, but it's sometimes possible to find out something.)

Oh, Korea is a death + 50 country...
Cheers, Ava.
