This 1918 book consists of five short stories or novelettes by Galsworthy. They are The First and Last (1914), A Stoic, The Apple Tree (1916), The Juryman, Indian Summer of a Forsyte (1918) (This last became part of the trilogy The Forsyte Saga). (Introduction by David Wales)
Type of proof-listening required (Note: please read the PL FAQ): Standard
IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the number of languishing projects (and hence the number of files on our hard-pressed server), we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't managed to record anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).
The reader will record the following at the beginning and end of each file:
No more than 0.5 to 1 second of silence at the beginning of the recording!
Start of recording (Intro)
"Tale [number] of [Five Tales]. - This is a LibriVox recording. All LibriVox recordings are in the public domain. For more information, or to volunteer, please visit: librivox DOT org"
If you wish, say: "Recording by [your name]"
Say: "Five Tales by John Galsworthy. [Title of tale]"
For the second and all subsequent sections, you may optionally use the shortened form of this intro disclaimer:
"Five Tales by John Galsworthy. This LibriVox recording is in the Public Domain.
If you wish, say: "Recording by [your name]"
Only if applicable, say: "[Title of tale]"
End of recording
At the end of the section, say:
“End of [Tale #]"
If you wish, say: "Recording by [your name], [city, your blog, podcast, web address]"
At the end of the book, say (in addition): "End of Five Tales by John Galsworthy."
There should be 5 seconds silence at the end of the recording, or 10 seconds for files longer than 30 minutes.
Example filename
fivetales_##_galsworthy.mp3 (where ## is the section number)
Example ID3 V2 tags
Title: ## - [Section title]
Artist: John Galsworthy
Album: Five Tales
Instructions for soloist: transfer of files (completed recordings) Please always post in this forum thread when you've sent a file.
Also, post the length of the recording (file duration: mm:ss) together with the link.
Upload your file with the LibriVox Uploader (when your upload is complete, you will receive a link - please post it in this thread): http://upload.librivox.org
(If you have trouble reading the image above, please message an admin) You'll need to select an MC, which for this project is: rg - RuthieG
Hi
Not quite sure how - but you don't seem to have filled in the template and posted it although you have some of the information.
If you look at one of the other Solos in the launch pad you can see what it is meant to look like (pick one without an MC - they add the Magic Window)
So you need to copy all of the template and either post it into your first post , then fill in the bits , including the bits under the second row of = = = = = = = = = = = =
I have provided a Magic Window, David. Unfortunately I am not currently able to give you a working login to use the Magic Window yourself, so I have also added the section titles. I hope that is how you would have split them up. Let me know, if not. The Apple Tree seems to jump from 3 to 5, but as 3 is very long, I assume that the '4' got left out of the transcription somehow.
Please post the upload URLs and file durations in this thread as you upload them, and I will add them to the Magic Window until our problem is fixed.
I will delete your duplicated second post when you have seen this, and leave you with just the top one.
Hi Ruth, Thank you for taking me on. This is my first solo attempt. I've divided the text up mostly as you did, but could we please make these changes:
section 3 - The First and Last, Parts V VI and VII
section 4 - The First and Last, Parts VIII IX and X
section 10 - The Apple Tree, Parts 1 and 2
section 11 - The Apple Tree, Parts 3 and 4
section 12 - The Apple Tree, Parts 5 and 6
I'll send along my first recording in a few minutes.
OK, we'll hang on here for a day or two to see if we attract a DPL (Dedicated Proof-Listener). Otherwise we will move off to Going Solo, and post in Listeners Wanted for one when you have a few files up.
