I can PL these sections:

Chapter 5: Training for Skunk, Opossum and Mink
Chapter 6: Wolf and Coyote Hunting
Chapter 24: Scotch Collies. House and Watch Dogs

If things go fast, I'll come back for some more.

PL for Chapter 24:

Intro and Outro are OK.

Recording level is OK.
But, there are many muffled thumps and clicks: maybe stops and starts, maybe breathing on the mic ???

Nothing problematic with silences/pauses, repeats, or garbled sections.

Missing sections:

01:50.64 Missing words underlined and bolded "They have a dainty carriage and line style, profuse silky hair ..."

03:48.7 Missing word underlined and bolded "without which there is but little hope of great usefulness."

05:23.0 Missing sentence "He should never be allowed to drive the cattle fast for if once allowed to run them, he will become careless and develop a disposition to worry them."

PL for Chapter 5:

Intro and Outro are OK.

Recording level is OK.

Nothing problematic with silences/pauses.

Repeats and/or mistakes:

05:31.00 through 05:44.35 - Problematic sentence, followed by a series of "beeps", presumably as an editing signal - needs to be removed

Corrected sentence starts at 05:44.90 "Don't use a stick unless necessary. Use judgment, the same as you would want some one to use you, and in a few nights' training your dog will be catching game."

06:01.6 through 06:04.6 - Incorrect word: "He will make you from five to ten ["ten" should be "fifteen"] dollars a night"

06:35.5 through 06:47.0 - After the required end material, there are a couple of extra bits that don't belong here.

PL for Chapter 6:

Intro and Outro are present.

Recording quality for this chapter is not good. During the first 70 seconds, the sound level goes in and out and the words are not clear.
After 70 seconds, the volume is louder but the signal looks oddly flattened and the sound quality is still poor. There are sibilance issues (loudish clicks and hisses) that might be reduced with selective de-amplification, if desired.
01:11.9 - click
01:37.8 through 01:39.15 - loud hiss
01:56.20 through 01:56.60, 01:57.20 through 01:57.60? - hisses
02:23.45 through 02:24.00 - hiss
04:26.62 through 04:26.92 - hiss
04:41.95 through 04:42.90 - click
06:07.40 through 06:07.90 - hiss
07:39.80 through 07:40.25 - hiss

Errors that need to be removed:

05:06.2 through 05:20.40 - problematic sentence, followed by series of "beeps", presumably a signal for editing - needs to be removed
05:21.0 through 05:31.8 - Corrected version of the problematic sentence.
05:31.9 through 05:32.3 - very long pause within this same sentence

06:08.20 through 06:13.70 - mis-pronounced word, followed by series of "beeps" presumably a signal to start over
06:15.60 through 06:27.10 - another attempt at the problematic word/phrase, followed by another series of beeps
06:27.50 through 06:37.50 - another attempt at problematic word/phrase, followed by another set of beeps
06:38.00 - Problematic phrase is repeated, this time with success

07:33.70 through 07:39.5 - another problematic word/phrase, followed by another set of beeps

I just took a look at #6, and it has some serious clipping issues. This is when the wave forms go up above the top/bottom line and when this happens it distorts the voice.

Unfortunately, I really don't think the file can be saved as it is pretty bad, and would need to be re-recorded. :(

Barbara, did you do something differently with this file then with your other two? The other two don't have this problem.

Alright, I PL'd 00, 11, and 21. I didn't follow along with the text since this seemed to be a "Standard proof-listening instead of a "word perfect proof-listening"? please let me know if I'm being overly picky or missing anything:

PL for 00-Introduction:
0:00 No chapter number listed before title of book ("Introduction to..." maybe"
3:07 only 2 seconds of silence at end of recording
Volume way too low by 12-16dB?
ID3 V2 tag: Title as Title as “huntingdogs_00_hartley” instead of "## - Section Title"
otherwise great!

PL for 11 - Part II: Breeding and Care of Dogs, Chapter 11: Selecting the Dog
0:00 No “Chapter [##] of..” listed before first mention of book name (I know this helps me identify the chapter quickly if I can't see my MP3 player's display for some reason)
ID3 V2 Tag: Title as “huntingdogs_11_hartley” instead of "## - Section Title"
Otherwise great! Volume much better on this one.

PL for 21 - Part IV: The Hunting Dog Family Chapter 21: The Beagle, Dachshund, and Basset Hounds
5:17 Repeat ”The color of a dachshund is a...”
otherwise very good!

Hi Josh,
Thanks for your PL notes. :D
Yes, you don't have to read the text while listening, since it's Standard PL. :)
