Volunteer CD Covers! Working Thread

Hi Kathryn,

I just added your cover for Hunger.
There were a few problems.
The standard cover was 1700x1700px and the thumb was in a wrong file format.
I repared both problems, so it's ok.

I'm posting my first Librivox cover (hopefully the first of many more) for one of my all-time favorite Librivox recordings, Lady Susan (http://librivox.org/lady-susan-by-jane-austen/):

Thank you for the beautiful cover, BookWyrm.

The idea behind the different templates is that you choose one of it, depending on how much space you need, how much information you want to give.
Most people do only the jewellcase. I like to combine it with the origami papercase. I like to have a full list of chapters, readers and time, so for bigger projects I use the booklet template and have the origami at the end.

You are quite free which template you use and how much information you add. The minimum is the summary from the catalog and that it has LibriVox on it.

The important thing is to have it all in one pdf at the end, we can only add one pdf, and to name it book_title_date.pdf (lady_susan_1102.pdf)

Can you tell me, which pdf I should add? Or do you want to merge two of them into a new pdf?
The picture sizes and file names are all fine otherwise.

Thanks for the clarrification, Hokuspokus. I was a bit confused as to which ones were needed. I've reuploaded the zip file (http://upload.librivox.org/share/uploads/covers/lady_susan_1102.zip), this time containing the two jpegs and a single PDF with the Coverhorizontal and Origami templates filled in.

Hi,

My name is Tanya ... and I've been enjoying Librivox recordings
for over a year, and I'd like to contribute by helping with the CD covers.

I have a question

... should one sign-up on a Volunteer list,
as to which cover they intend to make? So more than one person isn't working on the same project.

I looked about and wasn't able to locate a place.

If we're to post a note ... I intend to make a cover for "The Idiot" :o)

No, you don't have to sign-up. If it really happens that two artist work on a cover for the same project at the same time, we just put them both in the catalog.

I have another, but it's kind of a suggestion for later,
I think.

Right now I'm going to do books I've listened to that don't have covers. I listen to a lot, and the rate I'm going with covers, I might not ever catch up!

But it's my goal too. If I could do covers and listen to books at the same time, I might be able to.

The thing I thought might be nice for Cover designers, but it
would require a list or Bulletin board of some sort I'm afraid ...
after a reader has finished a book, and if they are not planning on making the cover themselves ( I've noticed some do ), then when they turn in their announcement saying they've finished, perhaps they could turn in a short little description for the Cover team as well.

Something like so:

Main Character: Female: red long curly hair, green eyes, fair skin,
freckles, thin. Country girl, 20 yrs old
Main event: Learning not to fear Horses.

Backdrop: Corn fields

Something like that ... ha ha
Just to help out the Cover person so the image matches the Characters in the book if the original images can not be located, or
they haven't read it themselves.

Or if they think a certain place in the book describes the characters
well, then they could put "Chapter 2, 15:12-end of Chapter 2".
Event "Chapter 15" ... course that might ruin the book for the cover person I suppose ...

So, would this be too much of a pain?

I find the thought of reading a book ... mind boggling. So I apologize up front if this would be a burden.
