This is Section 2 (Holmes)

I'd like feedback on the voice - with these things I can never tell if people will think it's funny or find it incredibly irritating. A lot of the poem was written the way I pronounce it (e.g., horse is spelled hoss) so I thought I'd just go all out and rein it back in later if necessary.

And yet, to say the truth, reason and love keep little company together now-a-days.
What fun, I love the accent. Your file is in the MW for PL, I didn't check technical but couldn't resist a quick listen. There was a crackel on my end, I'm using my backup headphones and typing at the same time (don't ask). We'll see what Ashley has to say. Thank you!Sweetlilbirdy wrote:This is Section 2 (Holmes)

I loved it, especially your phrasing and timing and .... well, everything. keep up the good work and don't even think about toning anything down with subject matter like this. We can get dull anywhere.

Yay, I'm glad you like it! By the way, what part of Louisiana are you from? I only ask because I'm originally from Baton Rouge and I miss it down there.philchenevert wrote:Wonderful! Let that hoss run free girl, don't you reign her in none!

PL NOTES FOR SECTION 3:
You did a very good job reading it, but I did notice some background noise. Did you try noise removal in Audacity? It may just be me though, so it's OK

Hi All,
The PL Notes for section two:
There is a clipping noise beginning near the middle of the recording, and continues periodically through the remainder of the recording, as linny suggested. I tried listening to it with different headphones, and it was still there. It's not in the background, but when you speak. I love the accent though, it definitely adds to the poem!

Here is section 29 - Anatole Dubois At De Horse Show by Wallace Bruce Amsbary
http://upload.librivox.org/share/uploads/arb/witandhumorofamerica01_29_various.mp3
5:09 minutes of a fun dialect poem.
NOTE: no ethnic groups or animals were injured in the reading of this poem; although some words were bent out of shape so appallingly that they may never recover. Full disclaimer available upon request. maybe.

Silent, athwart my soul, moves the symphony true."

I heard what you're describing too, but I don't know what to do about it! I was planning on posting on the help forum, but I don't think there's a way I can fix this recording after the fact. I'm willing to record it over again if it's really necessary.ashleyspence wrote:Hi All,
