Guys (and Girls),
I recently noticed that any character with an accent, tilde, dieresis, or any non-english accent has turned into a question mark when I browser the forums. Anyone have any suggestions? I really enjoy looking over the foreign language topics and this gets in the way.
Have had the same problem for a few days now.
I'm using Firefox. I go into View -> Character Encoding -> and choose Western (ISO 8859-1) instead of Unicode (UTF-8 ). And all the accents are back on the web page.
I don't know why I have to do it each and everytime. It won't stay that way.

The thing that puzzles me is that on other sites it works just fine. And it also worked in the past on Librivox. It seems that it started a little over a week ago. I am puzzled. Could it be something with the forum software??

All I have to do is navigate to another page and then the Character Encoding is back to Unicode. Same as ezwa. Could a Firefox update have done this? Or could it be a specific setting or extension?
Xander, I have to use IE as work and often times view the forums here too. The special characters have looked funny in IE recently as well where they haven't before. Even dashes such as at the top of the forum after "Home Page" appears as a question mark. So, it's not a FF specific issue. The same fix works in IE, but like Ezwa says everytime I click on another link in the form even going between pages in a thread it resets the setting.
I have the same problem and it appeared just recently, and as far as I know I haven't done anything to my Firefox (home or work). Everytime I load librivox forum, it changes the character encoding to Unicode, even tho the html declarations at the start of the page (when viewing the source) state that it should be ISO-8859-1.

I noticed this too, and I just thought it was a problem with this site, it doesn't do it on any other sites I visit. And you're right it wasn't this way a week or so ago.
This has also been happening with Safari on Mac OS X. It definitely happened recently, and it's definitely only LibriVox. Who maintains the forum? It looks as though the character set encoding was changed recently (on the server side).
