Volunteers outside the USA: George Bernard Shaw died in 1950. His work is still protected by copyright in places, like Europe, where copyright is author's death plus 70 years.
The story centers on the relationship between Mrs Kitty Warren, a rich woman, described by the author as "on the whole, a genial and fairly presentable old blackguard of a woman" and her daughter, Vivie. Mrs Warren is a middle-aged woman whose Cambridge-educated daughter, Vivie, is horrified to discover the morally questionable way her mother acquired her fortune. Is there a deadline?
We ask that you submit your recorded sections within 1-2 months of placing your claim (or by the target completion date, whatever is sooner). Please note that to be fair to the readers who have completed their sections in a timely way, if you haven't submitted your recording(s) after two months, your sections will automatically be re-opened for other readers to claim, unless you post in this thread to request an extension. Extensions will be granted at the discretion of the Book Coordinator. If you cannot do your section, for whatever reason, just let me know and it’ll go back to the pool. There’s no shame in this; we’re all volunteers and things happen. The target completion date for this project is 21 April 2011.
How to claim a part, and 'how it all works' here
To find a role to record, simply look at point 5. below at the sections. All the ones without names beside them are “up for grabs.” Click "Post reply" at the top left of the screen and tell us which role you’d like to read. Read points 6. to 8. below for what to do before, during and after your recording.
Please claim roles (the numbers in the first column below)! Please note: All Librivox recordings are in the public domain. When you submit your recording, you will be placing your recording in the public domain as well. If this is your first recording, please let me know under which name or pseudonym you'd like to appear in the LibriVox catalogue. We can also link to a personal website/blog.

"After the dazzle of day is gone,
Only the dark, dark night shows to my eyes the stars;
After the clangor of organ majestic, or chorus, or perfect band,
Silent, athwart my soul, moves the symphony true."

wildemoose wrote:Reecedawg and Aidenbrack, you're both down for your respective roles. By the way, I'm not 100% on the pronunciation of "Praed." Any suggestions?
I believe it's said as Prayed (that's how I've always heard the actor Michael Praed's name spoken).
I think that is how the show came to my mind. I was on a theater site and saw it being advertised. I thought I would check it out and found some interesting reviews and actually saw some clips on one of the websites with some scenes.
The local theater group does "classic" theater, but was looking for doing shows that are at least 100 years old if they can. I got the chance to be in there first production "Tartuffe" where I played Tartuffe. I have been looking for other older shows. They are doing "The Importance of Being Earnest" This winter and it got me thinking again about shows they might want to do.
