“Poor Miss Finch.” That is what everyone calls the courageous protagonist of this book. In other words, “poor thing, she’s blind, isn’t it awful?” Ha! Lucilla Finch is the wisest of all the characters, in spite of, and perhaps because of, her blindness. This story is about her trials, tribulations and triumphs. She reminds me of myself. Not the falling recklessly in love and being pulled this way and that by foolish young men and mad old doctors. I mean that, like her, I’m blind and proud of it!
(Introduction by Sandra G)
Type of proof-listening required (Note: please read the PL FAQ): Special - editing help will be needed.
IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the amount of languishing projects (and hence the amount of files on our hard-pressed server), we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't managed to record anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project will be opened up to a group project as soon as a Book Coordinator can be found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to have it re-instated).
The reader will record the following at the beginning and end of each file:
No more than 0.5 to 1 second of silence at the beginning of the recording!
Start of recording (Intro)
"Chapter [number] of Poor Miss Finch. - This is a LibriVox recording. All LibriVox recordings are in the public domain. For more information, or to volunteer, please visit: librivox DOT org"
If you wish, say: "Recording by [your name]"
Say: "Poor Miss Finch by Wilkie Collins. [Chapter]"
For the second and all subsequent sections, you may optionally use the shortened form of this intro disclaimer:
"Chapter [number] of Poor Miss Finch by Wilkie Collins. This LibriVox recording is in the Public Domain.
If you wish, say: "Recording by [your name]"
Only if applicable, say: "[Chapter title]"
End of recording
At the end of the section, say:
“End of [Chapter]"
If you wish, say: "Recording by [your name], [city, your blog, podcast, web address]"
At the end of the book, say (in addition): "End of Poor Miss Finch by Wilkie Collins."
There should be 5 seconds silence at the end of the recording, or 10 seconds for files longer than 30 minutes.

Instructions for soloist: transfer of files (completed recordings) Please always post in this forum thread when you've sent a file.
Also, post the length of the recording (file duration: mm:ss) together with the link.
Upload your file with the LibriVox Uploader (when your upload is complete, you will receive a link - please post it in this thread): http://upload.librivox.org
(If you have trouble reading the image above, please message an admin) You'll need to select an MC, which for this project is: rg - RuthieG
We will wait a little to see if a DPL comes along before moving to Going Solo. Once you have some sections in the MW, we can post in Listeners & Editors Wanted for editors, too.

Thanks, Aravis - I have added you as DPL. What we do is this: first of all Sandra uploads her recordings, and they are marked "Editor Needed". Once each section has been edited, it's marked "PL Needed", and then it's your turn. The system has worked pretty well with Sandra's previous solo, which is now nearing completion.
Hello again Ruth,
Poor Miss Finch isn't appearing in my catalogue page as a link, just a sentence. When I search for it in the catalogue it appears but when I press enter on it, it takes me back to the search box.
Yes I can press enter on the link in my catalogue page just fine now, thanks Ruth. I've added chapter one to the magic window but uploaded t ry instead of RG. Do I need to re-do it? My finger slipped I think.
Chapters two and three are in the magic window. My ambition is to ed/upload up to chapter ten by the end of the week. (I have recorded the first thirty eight and have made a start on thirty nine but that's it till December I think.
Well done! You are getting on well! I have added the "Editor Wanted" tag to those chapters just in case anyone happens by. When we have a few more up, let's put another post in Listeners and Editors Wanted. It worked last time (grin).
Oh and I moved Chapter 1 into my folder, too, and changed the link in the Magic Window.
Hello Ruth and Aravis, I'm back. I posted up to chapter eleven in the magic window. I've imporved massively in editing terms, hardly any gaps now. Mistakes? That's a whole other novel isn't it?
I edited chapter 1. Took out in total 1 seconds of silence from here and there. You are getting really good with editing. In fact you are so good that I wonder if you have intended the silence I cut out.
Listening to you is a great pleasure. Will do chapter 2 soon.
