Just wanted to let you know how very much I've enjoyed your recordings of Isabella Alden's books. She's one of my very favorite authors and it has been delightful to have her books in an audio form so that I can listen as I work. The whole writing style was different in that time and you do a fine job of making it enjoyable to listen to without feeling too "wordy". If you're considering any more of hers, I would love to encourage you in that endeavor! A particular favorite of mine is "The Browns at Mount Hermon". Just as a suggestion, you know!

even though my degree was in English - and I've spent most of my adult life
involved with English literature one way or another - I just never got the
hang of Spenser. the first time i opened the Faerie Queene it seemed
muddled, directionless, repetititive ....

just over a year ago i discovered Librivox, and - sceptical at first - i
downloaded part of the Faerie Queene. it was a poem i knew i didn't like,
and i was expecting to continue not liking it.

but it was a revelation! listening to the poem is just so different from
trying to read it. the leisurely pace becomes part of the fun of a bed-time
story, the shapelessness of the plotline all part of the wonder of being in
neverland.

morganscorpion wasn't the only reader - but she was one of my favourites. i
usually listen late at night, and dozing off listening to morganscorpion is
the second nicest way i know of getting to sleep.

i probably need to thank several of the other readers at some point, perhaps
i shall eventually.

but morganscorpion has now posted a reading of oliver onions 'beckoning fair

this is another story i always wanted to like (i am a long-term devotee of
arthur machen), but again never managed to.

morganscorpion has wrought her magic again. prose that was unreadably
orotund on the page becomes snug as a fleece when listened to.
morganscorpion is nearly as fun as icecream.

not walls icecream: joe's icecream. the proper stuff.

thank you so much morganscorpion, you showed me the key to the Faerie Queene
and Oliver Onions. there are many doors to fairyland, but i am permanently
grateful to anyone who can open even one of them for me ...

Dear Peggy;

I wanted to Thank you for reading parts of; “An Old Fashioned Girl”. I was deeply touched by your voice, it is so deeply feminine, and spiritually touching, with true sentiment and feeling, yet in a soft tranquil manner. Other voices were good, but yours was my favorite in the book. I feel I detected a slight accent, German possibly. My wife is Russian,and she also has an accent.

Please let me explain why I have listened to such books as this. I am a middle age man with a normal wife and 13 year old daughter. I am a dedicated Christian. I seek a pure and clean heart before the Lord, not always easy in present times. God says dwell on pure and good things instead of the temptations of this earth. I started out with “Ann of Green Gables”, and later found an “Old Fashioned Girl”, an even better inspiration. I was so glad to hear Polly's father was a pastor, in the book.

I am ashamed of some of some of my temptations, and try to immediately turn to pure and good thoughts. This book, among others has helped me to love women the way God loves them, and hopefully make me a better husband and father.

Hopefully you will pick out some more good books with good morals, and read them. I will be watching out for your readings.
