Ohhh.... I had been hoping to do this as a solo project. :( I've loved Sunshine Sketches since I was a child, spending summers not far from Orillia, and visiting there frequently.

I dunno....would anybody object if I did it as a solo project anyway? My own belief is that with the narrator being a character in places, the Sketches belong to one voice. And I'd like to be that voice.

Well, as there is never any objections to multiple versions, I _might_ let you  (provided you donate ONE chapter to me :P )

Seriously, though, Multiples are always welcome. If I had known you wanted to do this, I would have chosen another of his works as I wanted some Canadian content. He actualy lived very near me. (About a half hours drive) The museum is still there in his house. :)

I've been to the museum. Sadly, it was closed that day. So we walked around the house and looked in the windows, hands cupped to our faces. It was years ago, but I've always found our reaction to the closed museum a somewhat Leacockian response to the situation: "Why, yes, we have seen the Leacock Museum...."

We'll see about the one chapter--if I do one for you, it would have to be the one about the excursion on the Mariposa Belle (Chapter 3?). Figure I should semi-claim it now, but as I said, we'll have to see.

But glad to know that multiple versions are welcome. I'll pop over to Going Solo later today and post it. But for now, I have to run or I'll be late for work!

Thanks, Starlite!

I'm going to do the nativity story in Spanish from one of the Reina Valera versions of the Bible on Gutenberg. Haven't decided which version yet... I need to read through them and see which I like best, or if there are any major differences in the language.

I just posted on solo works my intent to record L. Frank Baum's short story, A Kidnapped Santa Claus. I don't yet know what the recording time will be but I imagine around 10-15 minutes tops. I'll keep you posted.

Just an update to say that, after thinking it over, I've decided to keep this as a literary collection. Hopefully someone who is more musically inclined will start a project to collect Christmas songs. :)

The two bears will contribute: "Yes Virginia, there really is a Santa Claus." To make it even more authentic we will do this after Barbara Bear's turns 8. This will be well in advance of the Nov. 1 deadline. Looking forward to it!

Hi,

This is my first recording, so I hope it's good. I recorded Twas the Night Before Christmas from Project Gutenberg (http://www.gutenberg.org/files/13213/13213.txt).

It sounds great... just a little quiet, which is often a problem with voice files. But I can fix that here... just something to check in future.

Here is one of my favorite Christmas Stories, The Gift of the Magi by O. Henry. It's 16:15, your length requirement saying to make sure it fits on 1 CD is for individual files, not the whole collection, right? If not, and it's too big, let me know and I'll figure something else to do with it ^_^

The Gutenberg Text page is:
http://www.gutenberg.org/dirs/etext05/magi10h.htm
The Gutenberg Catalog page is:

I'm not sure which of those addresses you were looking for.

Hey there,

Since A Christmas Carol has already been done and I'm in a Holmes mood, how about I do The Adventure of The Blue Carbuncle, a Sherlock Holmes story for the season?

Has anyone offered to read Dickens' "A Christmas Carol"?
As always,
