Christmas is coming!
So warm up those microphones!

Starting now until November 1st, I will be collecting Christmas stories and poems for a collection that will be available for holiday listening, or burning onto CDs for gifts.

Here are the "rules":
* Any Christmas themed short story, essay, poem, or passage of scripture is welcome, so long as it is previously published and in the public domain. Sorry, no songs! Please see the Christmas song thread for those.

* Please note that although the original text of the Bible is in the public domain, the translation from Hebrew or Greek may not be. Please verify that the translation you are using is public domain. If you are unsure, ask and someone will find out for you. Or you can play it safe and stick to the King James version.
* If you want to record something from a non-Christian tradition, please feel free. All traditions are welcome. =) However, I would prefer to have the word 'Christmas' in the title of the collection, as I expect most submissions to be, well, about 'Christmas' rather than about a generic holiday, especially as most works in the public domain pre-date the modern sentiments of multi-cultural inclusion. (If this is a problem for anyone, please pm me and we can talk about it.)
* You do not need to sign up. Multiple versions are welcome!
* If you don't know where to start, look at the thread where the idea started http://librivox.org/forum/viewtopic.php?p=48276
* This may be a popular work for gift giving, so I'd like to keep files short enough to fit onto an audio CD, around 60 minutes. If it's a bit longer, we can split it into two files. If it's a lot longer, it should probably be started as a project in the 'Going Solo' forum. If in doubt, ask!

* Please feel free to submit as many files as you like!
Recording Notes:
For stories or long poems:
* Begin your recording with the standard Librivox Disclaimer: "This is a Librivox recording. All Librivox Recordings are in the public domain. For more information and to find out how you can volunteer, please visit Librivox.org"
* Say: "[Story Title], by [Author Name]" , read for LibriVox.org by [your name] or some variation on that, adding date, location, your personal url, if you wish.
* At end, say: "End of [Story Title], by [Author Name]"
* Please leave 5 seconds of silence at the end of your recording
For short poems:
* If you have a short poem, you can use the abbreviated disclaimer instead:
* "[Poem title], by [author], read for LibriVox.org by [your name]" or some variation on that, adding date, location, your personal url, if you wish.
* At the End say: End of poem; this recording is in the public domain.
