What made you choose your nickname?

Everything except LibriVox (yes, this is where knitting gets discussed. Now includes non-LV Volunteers Wanted projects)

I claimed "Stephan" before someone else did. Else i want the people to straight know my real name. The uncreative real names they kinda stick better in the head i think, better "rememberable" i assume.

Else my name for sure would have been "Apairon". Apairon is my nickname for everything online/computerstuff/gaming.
I tried myself with the pencil once and started a childrens fantasy-shortstory for the kids of my au-pair girlfirend. Guess the name of the protagonist.

It's the name given me after my mother's father's mother who's real name was Nkolo Moseka Ezwa meaning daughter of Ezwa (don't ask me what the latter means, I have no idea and don't know whether I'll ever be able to find out). So, it actually was my mother's father's mother's father's name.

People usually call me by another name given me after one of my father's great aunts. That one means "stone" in at least one of the numerous European languages (could I be more vague? : in one of the numerous human mixtures of sounds  ).

I shouldn't really need to explain, because apparently (according to Anita) it's like sooo obvious that my name is a reference to my slightly flakey, here-one-minute-gone-the-next-ness. You know, "Earth calling David... Earth calling David... Where are you??".

I chose it when looking for a domain name ( www.earthcallingdavid.com ) a few years ago, partly because www.noodlehead.com was already taken. Sheesh. And it stuck.
