Ruth,
I just finished Jo's reading of "House of a Thousand Candles". Excellent story, and very well read. Among the mysteries that I have listened to, I think this is one of the best.

Is there a list of all the previous staff picks somewhere?

I have kept a list, but it is only on my own computer right now. I will put it on the Wiki. :)

Of course, I should have said  that you could see all previous picks by going to the Blog/Weekly Picks, but nevertheless I have started putting them on the Wiki too, to get the Recommended Listening List underway.

I intend doing a new 'staff picks' in the next few days, so if any of you have any ideas, please holler! :)

I'd like to recommend the freshly cataloged Selected Poems by Christina and Dante G. Rossetti. I've just finished listening and really enjoyed it:

I would like to recommend The Thirty Nine Steps, from which several movies have been adapted, most recently a PBS production, but they all fall FAR SHORT!!!!

Why can't they just FOLLOW THE BOOK!!!!! :P :P :P

Sorry for yelling.....http://www.archive.org/details/39_steps_0807_librivox

I'd like to recommend the group version of Pride and Prejudice because anything that can make me enjoy Jane Austen deserves praise. All the readers are delightful.

And The Parenticide Club by Ambrose Bierce and The Invisible Man by H.G. Wells were the two books that introduced me to Librivox and both were so well read it took me a while to twig they were not professional but volunteer read (and I could join in!) In particular the character voices in The Invisible Man are excellent, consistent and realistic.

(Well done Alex Foster and Peter Why!)
So little space, so much to say.

Collected Works of Saint Patrick is currently spotlighted on the LV Internet Archive page, and I will change this to Relativity: The Special and General Theory in a week or so, in good time for Einstein's birthday in April.

The other ten recommendations are now up on the Internet Archive, and will be posted on the LV blog and the Recommended Listening List on the Wiki tomorrow.

Albert Einstein was born March 14, 1879. He died in April (1955)

Unless you were thinking of a different Einstein.

Hah! That'll teach me to do these things late at night. Well, it'll have to be in remembrance of his death then. Sorry about that.

Now posted on the blog and a summary in the Wiki under Staff Picks 2010.

Still open for business for the next selections, of course! ;)
