I see section 5 is still looking for a reader - may I put may name down for it? This will be my first reading for Librivox, and Calvin seems an auspicious place to start!

Thanks

It's a great place to start. :) Welcome on board!

Since this is your first recording, you may want to submit a shorter clip (a minute or two) first, so that we can make sure your technical aspects are all correct. It's easier to correct them before recording a section than after. ;)

How would you like to be credited in the catalog? There are places for a catalog name (some use a nickname, some their real name) and a web site, if you have one. CLICK HERE for an example of what I'm talking about.

I don't see any requests for section 16, so can I have it?

TriciaG, my pastor can help me with the Greek, so I won't have any more long gaps trying to figure out how to say stuff. I should have asked him sooner...

OK, sounds good. I don't think most sections have Greek, anyway. :)

I have just been lucky then. I think every section I've done has had some Greek in them. :-)

Hi Tricia,

It's probably simplest for you just to use my real name (Adam Oellermann). My web site is at http://www.oellermann.com if there's a place for that. I definitely take your point on the small-section idea - I will get a couple of minutes recorded after work tonight and you can let me know how to improve it!

I'm really looking forward to getting into this!

Thanks

Hi Tricia,

I've uploaded a sample recording for you to consider - please let me know what I need to do to make it up to Librivox standard!

The sample is at:

Thanks!

Whoa! Is there a librivox standard??

I'm in trouble!
Please use PM for contacting me even when I have just posted something in the forum. I don't read forum posts, generally. Thx.

HA! The only "standard" is the tech specs, plus making sure the volume is high enough and background noise is low enough.

Adam - Tech specs are all correct, and the reading itself is great! It is a little low in volume, however.

What I did (and what you can do) to get it up to the right volume:

1) When done recording, select all, then use the Effects / Leveler feature set to Moderate. This levels out a little the quiet and loud parts. Then...

2) Select all, then use Effects / Normalize. I set it for -1.0 dB, which will put your loudest spike 1 dB from the maximum.

Once I did this, the volume was just about perfect. 8-)

Go forth and record!

Thanks Tricia! I'll aim to get it recorded this weekend and will experiment with the Leveler and Normalise effects.

Have a great weekend, all!
