Hello all!

I was thinking Hamlet would make a fine addition to the works available.

Roles in RED are currently available, BLUE are cast, and GREEN are complete.

PRINCIPAL characters have at least a fair - if not large - amount of dialogue. FEATURED characters are those that have an average of 10 or 15 lines. MINOR Characters generally only have one scene and very few lines.

Kristin, what I'm looking for is a bit of hand-holding at the get go, or thru the project if you're up to it. This will be by first moderation/editorship/however-this-is-called and I'd like to not bugger it up.

MCing is doing all the editing and making it into a pretty audiobook? If so and you're up to it that's shiny by me. I was thinking by the first of October. I that too late? To early? As I said I've never done this end before. Any input is appreciated.

Actually, your MC is responsible for collecting the finished files and cataloging them (a big job), and of course answering questions, helping solve problems, and looking after your project if you go out of town or something. I'll take that job on, if you like :)

I can't help with pasting the files together, editing them, and all that jazz. But we have a number of people here who seem to enjoy that kind of thing - I'm sure you'll find enough helpers if you look around.

Ok, since I'll be your MC, I just want to remind everyone not to read from that first link in the first post if we're not POSITIVE that it's in the public domain (not creative commons, not "some rights reserved" -- our sources MUST be Public Domain). So, Queue, let us know when you find out.

First of October sounds like a nice target date. If you find it's taking longer than expected, you can always change the date.

Um, what else. I suppose you and your editing helpers can keep the files on your own computers while the project is in progress, and then give them to me when it's all completed and ready for cataloging. If you need another storage space, let me know.

Do come up with some kind of reasonable file-naming scheme, which will allow the finished files to sort properly. If you're not sure, check with johngon and see how he's handling filenames for his Shakespeare projects.

What I use is:

playname_charactername_act#_shakespeare.mp3

so for this it would be:

hamlet_ophelia_act2_shakespeare.mp3, hamlet_ophelia_act3_shakespeare.mp3... etc...

This allows for a quick listing by character and it sorts by act. I also created an Excel spreadsheet for the Histories to track the status of the many, many roles in question. If you'd like that, let me know.

Having read over the file, so far as I can tell, the only difference is the line breaking and when spoken that doesn't show up, it just helps (at least when I'm reading it to myself) to not have to contend with poetic line breaks. But I'll let you know what I hear back.

Having been in a production of Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead a few years ago, I'd love to read the part of Guildenstern for this.
