Anita, check on "Gbits-00-19-25-32-34_NC.wav" and advise.
It seems terribly wrong.

I am happy with my edit.

Stephan -- I know this is just demo, but I want to place my vote for keeping that "sideways" trick -- "his boater straw set sideways..." -- I nearly slipped off my chair. I like that! Of course ... it does make it hard to pay attention to the next bit while wonderment is so strong...
boater straw? trick? sideways?

I feel like ... a proud papa pacing out of the delivery room, wanting to hand out cigars!

I was halfway through listening when The Good Reverend Doctor quizzed me about the editing, so he listened, and we were ... yow! Dr: "d*mn... that was pretty kick*ss!" We got all asterisky over it!
pow

So ... that's way beyond prooflisten!
But ... a lot of us are still in rough cut, and that's the right spot for prooflistening -- The Good Reverend Doctor's edit The Chase is up on the first post of the Edit thread for prooflistening

And as for this ...

boater straw? trick? sideways?
It was a comment regarding this environmental effects demo:
Stephan wrote:Do you guys know enviromental effects? They come with todays soundcards and can be tweaked till kingdom-come. Todays computer games use them. Of course they should be used WAY WAY WAY more subtle.
Listen with headphones for full effect:
--> http://www.moebius.mynetcologne.de/enviromental_effects_demo.mp3
Some effect happened at the word "sideways" that made the word itself seem to be sideways. ... that's all ...

heavens Stephan, thank you for showing the power of play
and you've left such a perfect segue for the next scene, too!

I listen again and again -- my favorite is The Flight!!

Damn just typed a whole long whinging message and hit the wrong keyboad shortcut and it's all gone... anyway. I'm back in the internet cafe, having had to spent most of the last 36 hours at home waiting for people who never showed up, or running around for things... Brian and I are taking turns and so I have a little time now.

The good news is that we got our ADLS connection at home this morning. Of course it doesn't work and now we're waiting for the technician, who won't be able to figure it out, either... grrrrrr... (I seem to have 'grrrrr' in my messages a lot at the moment)

Whilst I'm writing this, the file TheEndStage1edit.wav is uploading to the Ulysses folder. Sorry it's so late. I'm also uploading The End ? Draft edit stage 1 by Gesine.doc which contains the changes etc to be made to the draft edit.

When I've uploaded, I will try and download Stephan's file... this is so exciting! And we have all the recordings! Woohoo!

So I've assigned 76 - The Voices of all the Damned to ceastman/Peter - I'm sure it'll be fine and it's one more part DONE.
I've also put ceastman/Peter down (with a ?) for 78 - The Voices of all the Blessed because I think that would be such beautiful symmetry... will you do it? It's just one line.
* * *
Well, the Blessed and the Damned are both done actually, one being the reverse of the other, and we can run it through effects, etc... I'll have to fish the file out of our ... 15c archives :)
Wow.
So much stuff has gotten done.
I have no idea if you still need this file, but here's the location for the original 2 test runs Peter and I did for Blessed/Damned to demonstrate what the reversal-of-sound effect actually sounds like:

a.r.dobbs wrote:ceastman - would you read 55 - A Whore, please? I've put you down with a ?
Also, have all the whores recorded 54 - The Whores? That would be ceastman, kri, Alessia, Kymmz - at least 2 or 3 of them, perhaps. Who can check?

Ah, smart me (at smarter Stephan's pointing out missingness of lines) PMd all the gals last night before my sleep
Ah, stupid me forgot ceastman and peastman are ON VACATION starting today (Hi Catharine, as you read this in some Internet cafe or such!)
Yup. On my parents' computer, which has a lovely super-speedy Internet connection (and even has Audacity on it, 'cos my dad has lots of old 8-track tapes he wants to burn to CD), but no microphone. So, no, I cannot read A Whore, and I forgot to read The Whores, 'cos I forgot that Zoe's part of that group. Anita was talking to me about being flirtatious yet innocent, see... And it looks like you've got all the recording files you need, anyway.

Again I say: wow. Everyone's really been working hard and amazingly to put this together. I can hardly wait to hear... .. the final product!

(I'd like to listen to individual bits too, but at the moment have no time.)

:!: :!: :!: everyone!!!!

The End stage 1 edit is uploaded and in the Ulysses folder. I also just moved UlyssesChase1Draft (or some such thing) to the Ulysses folder.

I'm recording a Ulysses orphan right now so will check back later...

In a nearby galaxy...

Mickey Mouse.

It looks like we can't share the fruits of our play but

So Why is Ulysses on Gutenberg???

I just found some confusion to add to my confusion:

http://www.questia.com/PM.qst?a=o&d=5001400563
Publication Information: Article Title: Copyright Protectionism and Its Discontents: The Case of James Joyce's Ulysses in America. Contributors: Robert Spoo - author. Journal Title: Yale Law Journal. Volume: 108. Issue: 3. Publication Year: 1998. Page Number: 633. COPYRIGHT 1998 Yale University, School of Law; COPYRIGHT 2002 Gale Group
Since it is often claimed that Ulysses is protected by copyright in the United States, and since these claims have a chilling effect on the activities of present-day publishers, scholars, and readers, a clarification of the copyright status of Ulysses in America is badly needed. Now that Congress has passed legislation to extend existing copyright terms by twenty years, it is particularly important to determine whether the American copyright in Ulysses is fact or fiction.

"Ulysses" Has No U.S. Copyright [dated 1999]

No ... I guess those are out-dated ... this one is ... this week

http://arstechnica.com/news.ars/post/20060613-7048.htmlIs James Joyce's estate misusing its copyright?

Scholars must ask ... permission to quote sizable passages or to reproduce manuscript pages from those works of Joyce?s that remain under copyright?including ?Ulysses? and ?Finnegans Wake?...

interestingly, "Stehen James Joyce [JJ's grandson] has blocked or discouraged countless public readings of ?Ulysses,? and once tried unsuccessfully to halt a Web audiocast of the book."

So... The New Yorker ... well ... then I'm not that confused, I guess.
But why couldn't they have published this last year rather than this week? That would have spoiled our fun, eh? ... 2011 ...
