I've been experiencing, that the down-loading speed seems to be very low recently - it took more than 10 hours to get 1GB book down.
I've checked that there's no bottle neck on my end (Berlin, Germany at any time day or night). Is there any rate restriction because of crowding?

It's possible that they are experiencing some temporary slowdowns, which usually resolve themselves in due time. I'm not aware of any restrictions.

I noticed that downloading a book as a single zip file is slow for me, too. The quickest way to get a book is using a download manager. If you use firefox, try the extension "DownThemAll", use the quick filter with "64kb.mp3", and you will get the same files as in the zip file, but much quicker.
