"For Annie" by Edgar Allan Poe ... an admittedly self-indulgent choice! It's far from romantic, however, it's all about death, as embodied by a woman named Annie.

LOL. My love for poetry has been renewed by LibriVox! I find myself looking through old college poetry anthologies, filled with notes and marked pages and finding more and more to record. Too bad a few of my all time favorites were published in 1923. :(

I'd like to try a few pre-1800 poems that I understand, and happen to like very much, from Harold Bloom's anthology "The Best Poems in the English Language". One of my favorites is Milton's "Lycidas". Would that be OK?

I was browsing Christmas Poems. This one seems timely with is message of war and Christmas. I was considering if it might be anti or pro war, and it occured to me that there's something for everyone. I think that's why it's considered poetry

Thanks, Philip. I've heard this as a carol, I think -- didn't realize it was Longfellow.

I would have enjoyed contributing, but I lack the computer literacy to record and send MP3 files using the instructions provided. I cannot get Audacity recording software to incorporate the LAME MP3 conversion software, and I cannot get AudioRoom to record at all. I am in awe of all of you who have managed to figure this out.

There are other programs out there to let you record and save to mp3 and, while the sending of files may be difficult to manage, it's doable at least (and if you can't, there are always people to help out).

I personally use Gold Wave to record my audio (http://www.goldwave.com/ ) because although it's not free, you can use it without paying for a time, and it's more accessible for me as a blind computer user anyway (although I should work on something free, really, see if I can't make it work better for the blind community).

That's just my take on things, so if you need further help - that's what all these people are for!
