Listing of LibriVox Readers and all their Work

There's going to be ONE database. It'll be searchable and sortable by all sorts of things, including readers' names. It'll be the front end for the current catalogue. :)

If searching for a reader's list of completed (and often, in progress) recordings, I think the reader's LibriVox wiki page would be a good start, as some people keep their lists there (I do, just to keep track of things).

I wouldn't want to put the link in my sig because, frankly, I think my quote is much better than any of my readings :D But I have just put the link in the webpage field in my profile. Many people keep lists of recordings on their personal webpages.

Interesting, isn't it, how one can get attached to certain readers and the way they read, or their voices. :)

We have a database project in the works, which will include as one of its pieces of information, the reader of a particular work. It will be the job of whoever sets up the site to query the database to allow you to sort the information in all sorts of different ways, which I believe will also include sorting by reader.

Inspired by this thread, I have created my own little LV Wiki page, and linked it in my sig...

It will be nice once the database project is finished (for a number of reasons) to be able to see what else a reader has done. I certainly do find that I have "favorites" among the readers that I will listen to just because it's them reading, regardless of the content.

This list would have to be maintained by everybody. Also everybody would have to list his recordings on his personal page.

Alys, you could do a little survey to answer your questions. You can use the forum's poll function to ask for Librifolks opinion. Create some 5 threads with different poll-questions. Though i predict that you won't get much feedback - maybe 10-20 participants.

Raynr. Wowzers! Crazy I have never heard of this upload tool on Librivox before. Awesome! What else is secretly in devellopment?

Peter, after you've created your page following Stephan's instructions, you can hit "edit text" on anyone's personal wiki page, copy the text, paste it into your own page, and personalize. I find the wiki code to be rather odd, so I did this to figure out how to post an image :) Have fun!

::nod:: When I'd created my page, I just copied and pasted the code from Gord's and tweaked and filled it in like I wanted, taking bits from other people's pages as needed. I didn't actually learn the wiki code.

Yes, my thanks, too; after starting my own page once and trying to look up formatting instructions .... and losing what I'd typed, I was all set to create the whole page off-line first. Now I'll do as you suggest and use someone else's page as a template .... "Plagiarise, plagiarise: let no-one else's work evade your eyes.
