Hello, and welcome to the project!

I'll assign section 18 to you. If you're new at LibriVox, under what name would you like to appear in the catalog?

Hi,
I just wanted to let you know that I uploaded "Le Corbeau" (18): 4.6 MB (5:03 mins)

http://upload.librivox.org/share/uploads/pw/Le Corbeau - Sinclair.mp3

I tried to do the noise removal thing, but for some reason I couldn't get it to work. I hope this will still be alright.

Hi, mjbrichant

Thanks for the recording, I have just listened to it and marked it as PL OK, it's great. I have tried noisecleaning it as well, with good results (I think).

I'd just like to call your attention to the name of the file and the ID Tags, which weren't in accordance with the first post. Don't worry about this file - since I was noisecleaning it, I fixed those. But the file name should never have spaces, or it gets broken (like the one in your post above).

Your file can now be found at: http://upload.librivox.org/share/uploads/pw/raven_18_sinclair_mjb.mp3

Thanks again! :D

Hi, everyone,

finally I got around to recording the Theodor Etzel translation of "The Raven". Length is 7:05 and the file may be found here:

http://upload.librivox.org/share/uploads/pw/raven_11_etzel_hh.mp3

Since this is my first recording for Libirivox I hope it turns out okay - I did a noise removal using Audacity 1.3.6 (latest version at time of recording), since there was a nasty hum from th PC in the background - usually I use this Equipment for Internet Radio Broadcasts where there's usually Music cloaking the hum :-)

Kind regards,

McCavity

Hey, folks, raynr pointed out that next Monday (19 January) is Poe's 200th birthday. I know it's pushing things a bit, but wouldn't it be neat if we could catalog this project on that date? What about it? Think we can do it?

I PLed section 11, McCavity's recording.
All perfect. PL OK :D

I did some preparations for the booklet. This is what I have done so far
=> http://drop.io/librivox
"read by ..." will be added at the end of each poem.

There two problems.
- some of the sources are no text but scans
- and/or languages that use other than Latin characters.

Well, I could make screenshot and put them in as pictures. But this would somewhat ruin the layout.
Would it be OK to leave them out? Or has anybody a better idea?

Hi there, everyone:

I would love to contribute to this project, as The Raven is one of my favourite narrative poems. There is a really good translation with great candence of it into Macedonian, that begins:

Еднаш среде полноќ една, покрај стари книги седнат,
дури водев в соба бледна со тајната ука спор,
дури дремлив тонев в скука, зачув некој тропнеж тука,
зачув некој како чука на портата однадвор.
„Некој гостин” – реков, - чука однадвор!”
Тоа сал и ниту збор.

but I'm unsure on whether it falls into the international public domain. It's by Gane Todorovski, and although he is still alive, his works are on Bulgarian public domain websites.

Failing that, I could possibly translate it myself and release it into the public domain(?) or, if not, there's a Bulgarian version that I'm sure is in the public domain.

Best wishes,

Andy :)

Hmmm... not sure we will be able to finish it by the 19th, but maybe not long after that? :D

Hokus, thanks for the PLing! Also, the booklet idea is great. Regarding the text sources:

- the scans could be simply typed again, I think? They're not so big, I could probably try typing one or two.

- the languages that do not use Latin characters: we have transliterations of the Yiddish. If someone could transliterate the others, that would be great! If not... then, unfortunately, I guess we would have to leave them out. :?

I'm sending PMs to the readers who haven't sent their sections. Also, if anyone knows of a reader for the Finnish, that would be great.

Finally: hi, Andy!

We really need the translation to be PD to have it in the collection, so... if the Macedonian isn't 100% for sure PD, we can't have it. But if you know of a Bulgarian translation that is PD, please, send it. :D

Do we still need Finnish (Section 05)?

http://upload.librivox.org/share/uploads/pw/raven_05_juva.mp3

It's read by a Finnish friend of mine who wishes to remain anonymous.

Oh, and btw, "Korpi" should be "Korppi". They're two separate words, the latter meaning "raven".

We certainly need the Finnish, thanks much, Daniel!

Now, I don't know how I should add that in the MW. I've seen people like that added as "no-forum-name" or something like that, but I'll wait for Paul's advice on the matter.
