LibriVox Multilingual Poetry Collection 012

All audio files can be found on our catalog page: http://librivox.org/multilingual-poetry-collection-volume-012/

This collection is for poetry in any language. Feel free to choose any poem which is in the public domain. If you're unsure what we mean by 'public domain',please read this explanation.

Each reader should not submit more than two poems in the same language (per collection). It's fine if we have several readers submitting poems in the same language. It's also fine if the same reader submits poems in more than one language. It's also OK to submit readings in English (English being a language, I figure), but as there are plenty of other places to put those, let's limit them to special cases such as interesting regional dialects or accents.

If you are interested to see what has been done previously, check the previous Multilingual Poetry Collections in our catalog (but we welcome multiple versions of the same poem).

Hi Joseph,
Very glad to see you are continuing on as BC in this next collection! I'll be happy to MC again.

I've added the new project to the database, and you have your new MW to play with. Let me know if there are any questions.

Thanks Ernst,

If the book was never published in the United States, the term is 70 years from the death of the author (1937)
I did a check on worldcat.org - I reckon this is PD in the USA,Librivox is bound by US copright laws.

I´ll put this in the MW :D

Hi Joseph,

A French poem:
Ezwa

« Heureux qui... sait d'une voix légère passer du grave au doux, du plaisant au sévère »
Boileau
« Soyez joyeux dans l'espérance, patients dans la tribulation, persévérants dans la prière. »

Great reading, great poem too! Image

Two points to mention, otherwise OK:
(II) Page 27, line 23:

Thanks, Didier!

I'll see what I can do with those mistakes.
If I'm not happy with the result, I'll just call it the 1% error allowance.

Have a nice evening!

Thanks, Joseph.

Do you need me to change the Tag and reupload?

Also, if I can be the PL'er for it, you can consider it PL'ed.

Hi Joseph & Ernst,
Are you sure of this? These translations of the poems were published in 1933 in the Netherlands. Maybe good to run a check of copyright with the Gutenberg people?
This site: http://www.copyright.cornell.edu/public_domain/ (go to Works Published Outside the US by Foreign Nationals) seems to suggest that the work needed to have been in the public domain in the Netherlands in 1996, but I may be mistaken...

Would love it if you were correct, Joseph, because that would open up a lot of works for us.

Hi lezer,
I've been looking around for more info too and sadly it seems that this work is not copyright in The USA.
Copyright Act 1912 (Netherlands) not to mention EU
Article 37

1. Copyright shall expire 70 years after 1 January of the year following the year of the death of the author.

Which would mean that this work was not public domain in 1996 therefore it is not PD in USA untiil 95 years after the authors death.

So it seems that the 1923 barrier can't be broken yet :(
Sorry about the confusion.I must remember to look at more info and not jump at the first positive page I find

Thank you Olga :)

There seems to be a problem with the file here - its not recognised.
This is probably because you have named it incorrectly.
It's no big problem :)

You can upload again with the correct name :
e.g
File name all in lowercase: [language]_[poem's title]_[author's last name]_[your initials]
Ukrainian_Prychynna_Shevchenko_**.mp3
Don't forget your initials at the end where the stars are!

Or our kindly MC lezer can change it.
See you soon
Joseph[/b]
