BobS,
Thanks for your file, though I'm having some problems....did you mean to have it named as Chapter 26? I downloaded the file, but nothing plays either in Windows Media player or Audacity. When I pulled it into Audacity, it showed as just a flat line. Could you double check your file for me, and try uploading again, with this file name, please?
huckleberryfinn_26_twain.mp3.
Maybe there was a hiccup in the upload process and that's why nothing is coming through.
Thanks, and sorry for the inconvenience!

Bloom where you’re planted!
I've replaced my PC with a Mac. I downloaded Audacity and tried recording. No success. First of all, it does not save the .aup file once I'm through recording.
Second it refuses to accept libmp3lame.dylib, the library for encoding mp3 files. So I can't output mp3s.
Does anyone know how to get this to work?

Thanks! Does this mean you got your mac all straightened out?

I have a mac too.
I don't use Audacity because of the problem you mentioned with the mp3s, although I think an earlier version does export to mp3...
I use Garageband, setting the recording setting to mono and then saving by going under Share>Send to iTunes.
Then I g to iTunes and I find my file and put the ID3 tags if they are necessary.
It's not quite as easy as with Audacity if it did work, although the good thing is that Garageband doesn't crash.
Anyway I hope that was helpful...

Thanks, very much. I've fooled around with GarageBand a couple of time and didn't think about using it for recording.
I reinstalled Audacity and have it used it since to record chapters. so I'm hoping that it doesn't crash again. It's a bit frustrating to read a chapter several times because of crashes.
If it happens again, I'll use GarageBand. I'll have to figure out how to do the normalization. I suspect it has a way to do that.
thanks again.

I've got section 35 done. I apologize that yet again I've failed to wrestle my computer into making it an MP3. I tried downloading the lame library this time and it still didn't work. I'll try to get help before I take on another project, but in the meantime I hope this one can be converted. Once again, sorry for the inconvenience.
