Hi.

Librarian currently living in Central Oregon. I used to be on the radio in high school and college, but there are no opportunities for that here now. Would be really interested in reading Ghost Stories or Children's Stories, but am open to anything.

Hi, Mark, and welcome to Librivox!

I've taken a listen to your test recording, and it sounds good. Volume OK, sample rate OK, no background noise, no DC offset, all of which are good. The MP3 is at 192 kbps, though, and the LV standard is 128 kbps, because our file host, archive.org, will create several additional files if we submit 128 kbps mp3s. Also, it's in stereo, and we request mono recordings to avoid problems with left/right imbalance.

Other than those two (easily corrected) technical glitches, you're ready to go find a project you're interested in and jump in. We usually suggest folks start out with something short, possibly the weekly poetry project, or a short story for one of the several short story collections, all of which can be found in Readers Wanted: Short Works.

Woah, it has been awhile. I'm going to have to reaquaint myself with the recording standards!

We recommend that you start with a short poem, and just ask if you need help ;-)

And a big welcome to you, Mark! Sorry to hijack your intro thread :) Vee was one of our founding members but we haven't seen him around here in a long time so we're all excited :) We hope you have fun here!
