The Time Traders by Andre Norton (http://librivox.org/the-time-traders-by-andre-norton/) seems to be not serving up the full list of chapters when using "Subscribe in iTunes" to download it. I get the first 11 Chapters but it doesn't get any more. I downloaded this a couple of weeks ago and it's set to check for new parts - just tried a manual update - and nothing.

Cheers!

Hey, Rob, I have a couple of questions that need a little clarification, if you would, please.

1) Does iTunes display the entire list of 18 chapters of the book? If it doesn't, you may need to delete the feed (keep the files) and re-add the feed from the catalog page. I think there's a way to force iTunes to re-read the entire feed, but I'm not sure what it is.

2) If iTunes does display all 18 chapters, are you getting an error indicator for Chapter 12 (the exclamation point icon to the left of the chapter name)?, If so, what does the error indicator say when you click on it?

3) Can you click on the "Get" button for that chapter to get the chapter manually? If you can, Archive.org may be having one of their rather frequent server overloads, and it may not be a problem with iTuens or the feed. You may need to change the time of day that iTunes checks its podcast feeds by manually refreshing the entire list (click on the Refresh button at the lower right corner of the iTunes Podcast page).

A workaround, if you can't get the files with the "Get" button in iTunes, is to manually download the files from the catalog page. The iTunes feed uses the 64kbps files, so you could download those files and import them into iTunes.

I've added the feed to my iTunes, and all 18 chapters show up in the list. I've usedthe "Get" button to download all of the first 11 chapters, but to try to replicate your problem, I'm letting iTunes get the twelfth chapter on its next update, which will be about 1:30 am US Central time tomorrow.

If you continue to have problems, it would also help if you could indicate which operating system you are running, and the version of iTunes you're using, as this may possibly be a problem with that particular combination of OS and iTunes.

UPDATE: The first two times I tried to manually "get" chapter 4, I received a "The network connection timed out" error from iTunes, but the third time it downloaded correctly. We'll see what happens tomorrow, and I'll post again after that.

Hi Paul,

I have deleted the feed in iTunes and then readded it - all 18 chapters now show up fine. It didn't previously show an error on the chapters - they simply weren't listed on Itunes at all....

It's the first time I've seen that happen, but I'll bear it in mind for the future - must have been a glitch in the iTunes software, maybe it's Apples revenge because I told it I didn't want it to install Safari last time I updated

Glad to hear you've managed to get iTunes to think straight now  and will be able to get the rest of the book. I'll go ahead and mark this report as resolved, then.

By the way, did you also see that we have Key Out of Time and The Defiant Agents in the catalog, as well? Unfortunately, Galactic Derelict, the second of this series, had its copyright renewed, and can't be recorded for LV. :( We also have several other Norton works, including Storm Over Warlock, Plague Ship, and Voodoo Planet, as well.

Happy listening!
Paul
