Thanks again for the PL. :)
My wife just told me yesterday that our next trip ought to be to New Mexico. She's been to a conference in Glorietta, and we drove our motorhome through the southern part, but it is otherwise unexplored, and we're not that far away.

I've been to Glorieta once, when I was in college. It was beautiful, but I mostly remember a very long van trip from my school in East Texas. If you drove through the southern part of NM, you've probably been by here. Las Cruces is on I-10, and anyone headed from points east to AZ or CA comes by. I-10 doesn't run through Las Cruces; I-25 originates here and runs north up through town on its way to Albuquerque, Denver, and Cheyenne. Our closest larger city is actually El Paso, 40 miles away. Southern NM has a very different beauty than Northern. You might enjoy a bit of time here.
Cheers, VERLA

Thank you for recording this for us!
PL OK except for the volume which comes in quite a bit low at only 83.9 dB. So bring it up by 5 and it should be okay. But check to see if the background noise level is alright.

Well, I don't know if he is right about the historical events, but he is right about English, even now, being the most widely spoken language in the world, not as a first language, but certainly with the addition of those who use it as a second or third language. It is the common global language in many fields and applications. But, he is wrong about it being an easy language to learn! As an experienced TESOL instructor, I can vouch for that. He does highlight one of the problems there at the end though, tho, theau, or whatever. But, while "book" may always be a book, it has multiple meanings, as do a good many English words do. The use of English articles and prepositions can be problematic for many speakers coming from other languages. Then there are our verb tenses! Each language has its own peculiarities that make it a challenge. Ah, there is the English, "it!"

Well, enough of that. This was an interesting collection of essays on random things.
