Hi Jasna,
Compliments of the season!
I've had a cold the last couple of weeks and my voice hasn't been fit for purpose. But I'm back now and only a little croaky.
Don't worry about the schedule. I've got some time off work for Christmas so might press on in my free time but there's no rush. I crawl along at such a slow pace in normal time, there's really no rush.
This is the tale from the German fairy and it's Hansel and Gretel. Now then, I have on my bookshelf, a much thumbed copy of Jack Zipes translation of the first edition of Grimm's tales, when they were in their raw form and more blood thirsty, bawdy and secular than the later revisions. So I know from that, that this version of H & G is what modern folk might call a mash up. It starts like the Foundling, goes into H & G then they escape the bad fairy (huh?) and there's a section of Sweetheart Roland and finally part of Little Brother and Little Sister before an ending that would send Jack Zipe's eyebrows into orbit. I was, you might say, in the process of reading it, discombobulated. It was like watching the burning of Atlanta from Gone With the Wind in the middle of Four Weddings and a Funeral, the version where Hugh Grant gets gunned down in a confrontation with Gary Cooper in a scene very reminiscent of High Noon.
Plus it's in a very bad German accent.
Hope it doesn't spoil your Christmas! :D
All the best
Bryn

Happy New Year Jasna!
Hope you had a nice holiday. Well, after fully intending to press on, the season got in the way and I didn't manage anything last week. But here we are and off again.
Here's the Magic Bottles.
All the very best
Bryn

Hi Jasna,
Here we go again, here's Princess Rosette, told by the French fay. I'm going to step out of sequence now while in French fay mode because she turns up again later in the book. So, next will be Riquet with the Tuft and the Benevolent Frog and by the end I might have got the hang of her :)
All the best

Hi Jasna,
Thank you for being so kind about the accents, I've never done an accent before and this exercise is to find out how much I don't know and to learn a bit on the way. They sound terrible to me but I'm glad you're enjoying it. Things can only get better!
Anyway, here's Riquet with the tuft by the same French fay. The next one up is the Enchanted Frog. It's in three parts as it's quite long but what an epic tale! I feel Christopher Nolan ought to direct it!
Hope you enjoy this one, the star for me is little Fretillon.
All the best
Bryn
