Me too, Peter, I'm looking forward to it extremely much. I hope the test goes well so we can start recording soon!

I'll read the snarky Lady Bracknell if no one else wants the part.

The test recordings have begun... we're aiming to have these test files posted here by the end of the week so that Paula may experiment on the editing. We can start the full recording as soon as Paula gives us the "Go".

Thanks for your patience while we work through this exciting experiment =)

I included a place in the initial post for a Pronunciation Guide so that we can be certain to have a similar pronunciation for recurring names/words... As an American, I am definitely not the authority on British pronunciations ;)

Here are the names that I think may need clarification at this point:

Moncrieff
Chasuble
Cardew

If any one else finds names or words that may need clarification, please don't hesitate to post them here.

How about Bunbury?

I'm assuming: "BUN'burr'eh" as opposed to "bun'BEAR'ee" ...?

I've seen the show a number of times, but I can't for the life of me remember how it was pronounced.

Accenting the first syllable sounds right to me, yeah. Where's Alex when we need him? Alex, quit fooling around with your new house and tell us how to pronounce things!

Eeek, Thistle, I've been replying to your private messages, and no one can see my answers. But here I am at last.

WAV format will do. You don't really have to leave a whole 2 seconds in between bits. A half second or so will do, especially for the test.

Please put the files on your server and post a link here in the forum. Alternatively, if you don't have a server, use USendIt to mail them to me at paula at compulsivecreative dot com.

Looking forward to this with great glee!

My husband is English, and he says they should be pronounced:

Mon-CREEF (roll the R a little)
CHAZ-you-bl
CAR-dyew

And also:

BUN-bree (Bunbury)

Alright, I've posted my raw Ernest experiment at:

http://www.gordmackenzie.com/librivox/ernest_experiment_algie.wav

No compression, normalization or other editing... just the straight goods.

I do think that we are going to have a problem with different room noise and line noise, however. Since most of us do not have access to a completely silent recording studio and top quality microphones, the cuts between the actors will be extremely noticeable... but nothing ventured, nothing gained!

Good luck, Paula!

That's where Alan comes in. He can fiddle with the conditioning. I do the raw editing.

Do we need to insert a marker before each of our character's recordings? .... the previous sentence, for example ... to make it easier for the poor editors to identify? After all, the butler says "Yes, Sir" at least twice with, as I read it, different intonations, so it'd be a help to know which one fits where.

I just recorded a very rough excerpt. No editing or filtering... just to give an idea of my initial take.
