The next chapter is interesting, in that it is much more descriptive and doesn't feature the Watsons at all. Just a vignette of village life, which is said to be autobiographical. Both McClung and Pearl struggled to educate themselves, and McClung eventually became a teacher, as did Pearl in book 3 - spoiler alert .

I had almost forgotten that it was US Thanksgiving (we celebrate in October), so no rush on these. Winter has set in here, with cold and snow. I like winter, but it's unusually overcast (we typically have 300 sunny days per year!).

And of course, wishing you a happy Thanksgiving . When we lived in the US, we were surprised by how big a holiday it was there. Here, it's a more low key affair, with Christmas more the time for travel and family. In any case, I hope yours goes well.

Thanks! It was awesome. We had a family weightlifting session at the gym the night before and I am voting to make it a family tradition. All the food was delicious and got ready all at the same time.

The next chapter is heart breaking, with the Cavers household and Bill's drunken dissipation. McClung somehow persuaded the male population of Manitoba to vote for prohibition, and she never missed an opportunity to demonstrate the perils.
