Chapter 10: The volume is sitting right at 86 dB, which Checker thinks is low, and I notice the background noise is a bit more noticeable just at the start, before and after Jasper’s first line. Otherwise, all is fine and I’ll mark this PL OK.

Chapter 11:

• At 1:01, I hear “…and he looked so mean and cringging…” with a silent g on cringing. But cringing is actually pronounced crinjing, with a soft g. I don’t think listeners will know what the word means the way you’ve pronounced it, so I suggest you fix that.

• Your closing silence is only one second. It might make editing easier for you if you bump that up to 5 seconds.

Chapter 12:

• Your volume is at 85.8 dB, so below the minimum.

• At 7:35, and just after there are a few knocking noises in the background. The ones in the silence that follows this line don’t matter, as you can edit them out, but you might want to do something about the line “It goes up here, don’t it, with the rest?”

• At 8:02, I hear “Yeah, I see” but the text reads “Yes, I see.” You might want to fix that, as Jasper never says “Yeah” (nor do any of the other characters.)

• From around 8:30 to the end, there are repeated buzzing sounds in the background. You might run noise reduction on just that section, as some of them run through the speeches.

• Again, your closing silence is only 1 second. I suggest you bring that up to 5 seconds.

I'll come back and do the spot checks once you've made those changes.

Thank you for the feedback on these. 2 small notes: I haven't been correcting any volume or silences at the end of sections, as at the time when I'll edit everything together, I will have to complete a final pass on the volume and have the set silences on the files etc. Thank you for checking on those anyway

I thought that might be the case. Ok, I'll just spot check the non-volume/silences notes.

Hey there! Great work with these! Chapter 20 & 25 are PL OK!

I have just a couple PL notes although, please don't be alarmed, there aren't many and these should be easy fixes as they are relating to some pauses needed between lines. The reason for this, is when it comes along to editing and putting these together, it makes it much easier for the editor to see the gaps and know where the line is for the narrator's next spot (or another character's). Similar to pausing between sentences for lines, pausing for lines like "Oh dear" [5 second pause] said Dick "that is a lot of grass!"

I would recommend, while editing, to double check with the text and line to make sure the pause would be placed at the appropriate time, as some of the timestamps placed aren't perfect to the spot the pause is needed. I also recommend starting from the end of the section, because as you edit along, the time stamps will remain the same. If you begin from the beginning, the next time stamp will be 5 seconds later, etc etc, (because you would be adding length to the file).

And for 2 PL notes in Chapter 4, I am so so sorry but you fell victim to my poor highlighting skills But at 0:45 to about 1:05 you have two lines belonging to Polly “Oh, dear,” and “how nice, Ben! you always do think of the very best things.”

Thanks, I’ll get on it! Have a bit of a cold so may be a few days while my voice gets functional again.
