Hi there,

I'm taking over as BC on this project and getting everything caught up.

Sorry, but I'm going to have to ask you to add something to your already completed and approved recording of this chapter. As our narrator has pointed out, a line of yours was left out in the script. Could you please add “Here’s Father” just before
“Yes, go” at 0:56?

Many thanks,
Just a reminder of this small correction still needed to chapter 13.

Many thanks,
Winnifred

Thanks. Everything here is correct (including my name ), but I'm afraid it's not quite there yet. Before "Meta Coordinator," could you please say "The Story of the Treasure Seekers is brought to you by the following LibriVox volunteers." And at the end can you add "End of" before "Cast of Characters"?

Krista will be adding all the individual voice credits in before that last bit ("End of Cast of Characters").

My apologies for not making that clear enough.

Thanks,
And here is my second re-do:

https://librivox.org/uploads/redrun/storyofthetresureseekers_narrator_00.mp3

I hope this passes muster. 8-)

That one's perfect! You are now off the hook for all your assigned duties.

However, an advance heads' up that I may come back and ask you to read one or two of Oswald's speeches as if they were the narrator's. The reader who read Oswald has been off LibriVox for a month now, so I'm mentally preparing for what I might need to do to finalize his spot PLs (and this DR). Most of them I could fix myself (silences and minor cuts), but there were a couple of missed lines that I need to get in here somehow.

Thanks,
Winnifred

10 is PL OK. I think you made the right call in not reading the last two lines in 11. Better for the narrator to do those. I've adjusted the script. But could you please read "Ego" on page 5 (add it between 0:30 and 0:34 of your recording)?

Thanks,
Will do👍🏼

Hi Wayne,

I've now given up on the possibility of the Oswald reader returning, and had a go at fixing up his outstanding spot PLs.

I'm left with just two lines that were never read. Could I impose on you to read the following two lines into your chapters?

In Chapter 9, please add “Well, she won’t give us fivepence, but if you’d only do as I am always, and rescue a wealthy old gentleman from deadly peril he would give us a pot of money, and we could have the partnership and five pounds a week. Five pounds a week would buy a great many things” at 3:29 of your recording of the chapter, right after "so I said."

In Chapter 15, please add “Father has given you a beastly, nasty dinner, but if you will come to dinner with us tomorrow, we will show you our idea of good things to eat“ at 6:59, just after "This seems like deceit, but if you are a thoughtful and considerate boy you will understand that we could not go down and say to the Uncle in the hall under Father’s eye".

I don't think either of these lines will sound odd read in your voice, as you're also Oswald, after all.

Another question: With the exception of a few very short missing lines, this project is pretty much all in editing now and I've finished preparing scripts, etc., for The Wouldbegoods, so now I have to find a narrator and editor before I can launch it. Would you be interested in reprising the role of Narrator/Older Oswald? I'd like to launch it in December or January, and the only requirement left is to find a narrator and editor (or decide to edit it myself).

Many thanks,

These were very nicely read.

One overall note: your character files need to be named storyofthetreasureseekers_rolename_02, etc., so your first file would be storyofthetreasureseekers_albertsuncle_02, etc. Can you please rename the files that have PL notes below (I fixed chapters 3, 7, and 16, which are PL OK and re-uploaded them myself).

Here are a few PL notes about some chapters that you could perhaps fix before renaming and re-uploading those files.

Chapter 2:
  • At 2:03, you need a 3 to 5 minute silence between “To think that there should be two!” and “in all my experience of buried treasure I never heard of such a thing!” to allow for the narrator to say “he said;”
  • No need to read “End of Chapter 2.” The narrator will read that. Please snip that out.
Chapter 4: At 0:04, you need to add a 3-5 second silence between “What is all this, Albert?” and “Alas, alas, my nephew!”

Chapter 12:
  • You’ve missed the first speech “Let’s have a look at you, young man.” Please add that in before “It was revealed to the Arab physician…”
  • This one’s not your fault; you’ve read the line exactly as it was coded, but there was a bit coded for you that belonged to the narrator, in the speech starting at about 1:02. “And then he gave us a long talking-to. He can make you feel most awfully small. At last he stopped, and we said we were very sorry and he said,” You can probably leave this as it is, and I’ll just ask the editor to make sure to use the narrator’s version (which I've just asked him to add to his file).
Many thanks,
Sorry for the delay. Here are my revised chapter 2 and 12:

2:16

I could not find the part you specified in chapter 14 (your message said 4, but I don't see a file for 4).

Hi Jon,

Thanks. I've marked these all PL OK (I corrected your file names, which should just end in rolename_chapternumber, without the author name and 128kb; something to watch out for in your future DR readings).

That missing silence was actually in Chapter 7; sorry about the mixup with those numbers, but I've now fixed that and re-uploaded chapter 7 myself.

Getting silences right (not too long -- not too short) is probably the hardest part of recording a DR/play part. A bit like being Goldilocks

All chapters are now spot PL OK and Albert-Next-Door's Uncle is complete!

Now all we need are two "Here's Father"s, a couple of missing lines from our narrator and everything will be ready for editing! Woohoo!

Cheers,
Winnifred

Uncle chapter 15 PL OK.
My apologies, Beeswaxcandle, but I've come across a missed line for you while proof listening to Oswald's chapter (plus there's a line you've read that I believe should go to the narrator instead):
  • At 0:24, you’ve read “was afraid that what that same business wanted was not capital but management.” I think it should actually be the narrator reading this. This chapter hasn’t been PL'd yet and I’ve corrected the script, and will ask him to include it if it's not in there yet. If you could snip this line out when you make the change below that would be great.
  • There was a line incorrectly coded to Oswald that should be yours: “Do you carve sir, or shall I?” should appear between 1:08 and 1:12 of your recording.
Let me know if you have questions.

Thanks,
I think perhaps this request got lost somewhere. Beeswaxcandle, could I impose on you to make the corrections above to your completed reading? If you don't still have the file, you could just upload the single missing line, and I'll cut it in and take care of the deletion.

Many thanks,
Winnifred

Hi Krista,

Chapters 2, 10, 12, and 14 are ready for editing.

The only chapters that still have outstanding bits (missing lines) are Chapters 9, 13, and 15.

Cheers,
Winnifred
