Greetings! I'd like to take a recording of mine and, along with a single title slide, create a video which I can upload to YouTube. I'm confused by the numerous file types. I'm starting with our usual audacity files, but how do I get from here to there? Thank you!

Peace be with you,

There are many different software solutions to handle this. Many of them can be found by a web search for "Video Editors." Alternate search term would be to look for "How to make a slideshow".

The video editor I like is freeware called VSDC Video Free Video Editor. It looks challenging, but that is because the interface shows "buttons" to facilitate countless actions you could use. However, your request can be done by using only a very few steps in this software, or other simpler app options. (YouTube videos can explain the steps.)

1. Import audio (wav or mp3?) and it appears in the main window so you'll see the total running time of your audio.

2. Add your graphic image(s) which appears in a separate line above or below the audio line. If you wish, you can add multiple images, then make each one longer or shorter, and even have them fade in, fade out, cross fade, etc.

3. Add text if what you want to communicate is not already in your graphics - adjust it around the graphics, or fade these in and out as you wish.

4. Save the project, (so you can come back to it to edit as needed), then "Export" the file in mp4 format to use as a video on YouTube or Facebook.

Alternate ideas:

A) If you are comfortable making presentations in MS Office PowerPoint or other similar software, those also let you assemble a presentation combining audio and graphics, then export it as an MP4 file for posting.

B) Consider doing it online using free options like Canva, which requires a free basic account, but then lets you edit graphics, videos, slideshows, etc. by dragging-and-dropping audio/video to their web site, then exporting the final presentation.

c) Apple has a built-in editor, I-Movie, to get this done. But Windows' MOVIE MAKER was dropped recently because so many other options are available, free, cheap and paid.

Thank you, Duffy 424! I tried with Canva, and did get my video uploaded. I was able to disable comments, but when I tried to disable likes and dislikes, that wouldn't hold. Any tips for that ? :D
Thanks again!

I would consider doing it in stages.

1. Make your presentation in Canva, but . . .

2. Don't trust Canva to upload it to YouTube or Facebook for you! Just "download" it or "save" it or "export" it or whatever term they use. This is assuming that you are on a desktop or laptop computer - not sure how it would work from a phone.

3. Once you have the completed presentation on your computer, then watch it using whatever video player software works for you. If it is what you want to present to others, THEN go ahead and upload the file you now know is good from your computer to YouTube or Facebook. (You can probably also delete the previous one that was not the way you hoped.)

As much as we would like to believe that different software should work as advertised or intended, you might be better off handling it in stages, so you can stop the process or re-edit the files or description about the project as needed before the public posting.

I *think* there is even an option to upload a video to YouTube or Facebook with the setting/instruction that it doesn't get posted to public view for a few days. (Schedule a post?) If you select that option, then you can still see it (as the creator and account host) but you still have time to delay the process if you find out it still needs tweaking before you tell other people it is online.

-- good luck

As far as I understand, you can disable the like/dislike count, but can't really disable the like/dislike feature. So even though the like/dislike numbers won't show below your video, there still are the like/dislike buttons that viewers can click. And the numbers will show in your analytics, but not in public.
