Hello!

I am considering getting a new microphone, one with great quality and doesn't pick up too much background noise.

I am sure someone here has some excellent advice.

Thank you!

The AKG Lyra would be a good choice - and not too expensive:

I have the Logitech Blue Yeti and am very happy with it. https://www.logitechg.com/en-us/products/streaming-gear/yeti-premium-usb-microphone.html?srsltid=AfmBOooW8OLBzV2ykAFTv-vSYRuS_0OyI0XlPbZMZLv8-rFqMwdhzPIw

You can also find it on Amazon and sometimes it's offered as a bundle with some accessories, like the pop screen and arm :)
Cheers, Claire

I second the Blue Yeti, I got mine over a decade ago and I'm quite pleased with it (even if I currently can't access it and use my headset mic  )

That's the one I use too. It is fairly sensitive.

Okay, so I got the Blue Yeti, but it seems to want to chop off subtleties, like a short 'but' right before the rest of the sentence, and it won't let me record raspberries.

Does anyone know a fix for this, or will I have to return this one?

Thanks!

That sounds like a problem with your recording software, rather than trouble with the microphone. I'm no expert, though ... it might be the mike.

Sounds like you may have a noise gate enabled. Make sure any such feature as "voice mode" or "noise reduction" is disabled. Those are notorious for clipping-off the beginnings of sentences.
