The Gentle Art of Tramping, by Stephen Graham (1884 - 1975)

Volunteers outside the USA: Stephen Graham died in 1975. This person's work may still be protected by copyright in countries where copyright duration is determined by the author's death date. In Europe this is 70 years; in Canada it is 70 years for authors who died after 1971; and in Australia it is 70 years for authors who died after 1955.
(to be revised), Stephen Graham travelled extensively around pre-revolutionary Russia, and with immigrants as they landed on the East coast of America and spread West. This book, published in 1926, is his practical guide to such long-distance tramping. It is also a philosophical account of human restlessness and, Ralph Waldo Emerson style, our desire to connect with nature. A prolific writer, Graham describes his love of nature, and his dislike of industrialization. Encouraging people to take up 'tramping' for pleasure (as opposed to vagabondery or homelessness), Graham offers tips and insight into the travelling life, tips that are still applicable today. He hoped that this simple but beautifully written guide will ignite a love for nature and seeing the world, even on a shoestring budget, and entertain readers with his often humorous observations and tales. Certainly, and welcome aboard. A ZigZag Walk is about 4000 words. You don't need to wait for the Magic Window to begin.

Chapter 15 is uploaded. Being as I'm DPL, I shall need a PL from another reader.

Thanks for the PL, Kevin.
In case you were also wondering what "marrow" is, here is what I found.

In these parts, we grow zucchini and yellow squash. Never heard of marrow.
