Enchiridion Militis Christiani, by Desiderius Erasmus (1466 - 1536)
One of the most influential works by the medieval scholar Erasmus of Rotterdam, the Enchiridion Militis Christiani (called in English The Manual of the Christian Knight or The Handbook of the Christian Soldier) was originally written in Latin in 1501. William Tyndale translated it into English in 1533, and it is this translation which is presented here.

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the number of languishing projects on our server, we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't recorded anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).

Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process unless you are the BC or PL. Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

I have had this project in the back of my mind for some time and originally thought I might open it as a group project. However, I've decided to read it myself. It should be around 7.5-8 hours total. Looking for a DPL!

I would love to DPL this. I almost picked it up as a solo myself!

Fantastic! It'll be great to have you. I have just finished recording the introduction, which will be the longest section of all. Editing it will be quite the task, but the ball is rolling!

Moving to Going Solo.

And here we are with the introduction! I slightly altered the LV intro so as to incorporate the text of the title plate. I also haven't quite figured out what "pylling and polling" means, so I took my best guess at it. But if I do figure it out before we're all done, I may decide I have to go back and change my pronunciations there. We'll see.

This section will certainly be the longest, so it's kind of a nice feeling to know that every section from here on out should be easier! :D

Oh thanks! I did pronounce it "pill," so I'm glad to see that spelling. I was also thinking it could have been meant to sound like "pile." I think we can leave it as is, then. Thanks for that resource, too. I hadn't heard of it, but they have lots of helpful entries! I'm sure I'll be using it again.

I didn't see a post regarding the PL status of section 1, but I noticed that it was marked PL ok. I'm guessing you just forgot to click Submit, but in any case, I'm changing it to Ready for Spot PL. I realized that I forgot to use the shortened disclaimer, which I had intended to use. So I've pasted that in and reuploaded.

Sitting down to record section 2 now.
