He had to put up with here 9 years longer than all had hoped. Loved Mr. Kneebones description of Mr. Woods life.

I can't believe Jack is going to do what I suspect in the next chapter. Has he no scruples.

As exciting as this chapter is, it relies on a lot of hoary old devices. Jack keeps muttering asides to the readers! And Mrs. S is the long-missing heiress, stolen as a mere babe by a gypsy! And how about Jack's disguise? Yes, he had on Quilt Arnold's clothes, which is laughable enough, but we have been previously specifically told that Jack is a slight fellow, whereas Quilt is a hulking brute.
