The Cambridge History of English Literature, Volume 1: From the Beginnings to the Cycles of Romance
In the preliminary statement of the aims and objects of this History, communicated to those who were invited to become contributors to it, the editors emphasised the following purpose of their undertaking: A connected account was to be given of the successive movements of English literature, both main and subsidiary; and this was intended to imply an adequate treatment of secondary writers, instead of their being overshadowed by a few great names. (Summary by Preface)

LibriVox recording settings: mono (1 channel), 44100 Hz sample rate, 128 kbps constant bit rate MP3. See the Tech Specs

Intro to recording:
Leave 0.5 to 1 second of silence at the beginning.

Say:
"Section # of The Cambridge History of English Literature, Volume 1.
This is a LibriVox recording. All LibriVox recordings are in the public domain. For more information or to volunteer, please visit librivox.org."
[Optional: "Read by your name."]
"The Cambridge History of English Literature, Volume 1: From the Beginnings to the Cycles of Romance
Section Title from MW."
Special Notes:
  • Please read the full Magic Window title (including the author's name).
  • The names are difficult in this project. You might choose to look up pronunciation on Wikipedia or type the name into youtube (eg:) and see how others are pronouncing it. You could also try Forvo. In the end, try your best but be consistent within the section.
  • It is highly recommended that you view the sections before claiming so that you don't get a shock when the text is difficult.
  • If you find something you don't know how to vocalize (eg: a table), post in the thread for help.
  • Footnotes are optional. You can record whichever ones you find interesting.
End of recording:
Say:
"End of section #."
[Optional, and if not stated in the intro: "Read by your name, city, date."]
If you are recording the final section of the book, add:
"End of The Cambridge History of English Literature, Volume 1: From the Beginnings to the Cycles of Romance"
Leave 5 seconds of silence at the end.

MW is ready to be populated :)

I would surely read some sections in there as well. Maybe I can stake my claim for Section 1 right away :hmm:

thank you, I have a question, do you want the footnotes included ? Some of them are quite interesting, so I was wondering how you want to handle them. Maybe we should mention your decision in the special notes.

here is the first section, so cool, I had a real trip down memory lane to my university days studying the Old English language and literature. All these names and excerpts still rang a bell. :9: I'll be definitely back for more soon.

Recording time: 15:11 min.

One more question: I read the title as stated in the MW, you did not want to include "chapter 1" into the title ? As it's not marked in the MW, I left it out for now.

I think so. I think the chapter titltes will be sufficient and I think that when we have to break this into multiple parts for length then just saying 'section' at the start and avoiding confusions (Section X, Chapter Y, Part Z!) is the best option.
