So we are approaching Sci-Fi Collection 100 with 99 wrapping up probably pretty soon. 100 volumes seems like a pretty big milestone. I wondered if we should do a special kind of collection of some kind to commemorate it. I don't really have specific ideas, I didn't really want to do the 'stories with the number 100' that the Librivox anniversary collections follow (are there even 20 PD sci-fi stories with '100' in the title?). Anyway, I thought I'd bring it up here to see if anyone had any thoughts/ideas.

You're just looking for ideas, right? they don't have to be good

Idea: Collection #100 to have 100 sections!

Idea: containing stories from 100 years ago, which is rare for the scifi collection!

Written by authors who lived to be a hundred years old. (or older! :D)
That would be pretty hard to find!

As for "100" in the title, it doesn't have to be just the word hundred/100. It could be derivatives or other related words, like from Latin "centum" (century, centurion, centimetres, 100 cents to the dollar, percentage/per cent, centennial, centipede, centenarian) or the Greek "hecaton" (hecatomb, hectare, hecatontarchy, hectogram). Not that these are more common in titles than "hundred" lol ...

Overlapping with Rapunzelina’s idea but broadening the scope: titles published 100 or more years ago? So everything published up to (and including) 1924?

Might still require a bit of digging, but we’d all be sure they were PD.

And that could maybe include chapters of books like The Invisible Man, The Time Machine or Journey to the Centre of the Earth.

Cheers,

I would like that because people outside of the US struggle to find Sci-Fi that's in the public domain. The only Sci Fi that I've done is A Drop in Infinity by Gerald Grogan that was written in about 1915.

The > 100 years old may be a good option. I just went through the Unrecorded Pulp Scifi thread and found 97 stories unrecorded that are 1924 or earlier. And that doesn't include stuff already recorded or in short story collections. So I would think there are plenty of options for a collection with that restriction.

Alright, folks... The Sci-Fi Collection 100 is up and I decided to go with the 100 years or older criterion: viewtopic.php?t=102878
Here's a thread I put together with some eligible stories: viewtopic.php?t=102876

Let's record some classic sci-fi!
