FWIW, use the first page(s) of section 32 as the text for your test, that way you are already working toward it and not recording something at random. We can use it for the completed section file.

I have a test reading ready to post, but I don't see progressingamerica in the dropdown list to target the recording to you. What do I choose? Also, a question about section 32. According to the list of sections to sign up for, section 32 has 600 words. This is the section I want, but when I check its word count it is only about 250. Am I missing something?

For the 1 minute tests, there is an option there to select tests as a drop-down item. See these instructions here:

2: Before you upload, you must select the project MC's name from a list so your file will go to the right folder.
For test files, select "tests--tests" from the uploader's MC drop-down list.
If you do not select a folder in the drop-down menu, the upload will fail.

In the 1 minute forum, just let everybody there know you have a 1 minute file you would like to upload and they can help you further.

In the meantime, I have assigned you the section you requested earlier, section 32. You will see your username in the Magic Window there.

The word counts are often times only rough estimates to give readers somewhat of an expectation of how many words there will be, but also how long the recording will be once it is completed.

Hi -

I think I'm double posting. Apologies, still getting used to the process.
I have re-recorded my section (#32) and posted it as the "one minute test" again, since there were a few things requested to improve, most notable noise reduction. The new file is at https://librivox.org/uploads/tests/autobiography_32_benjamin_rush_128kb.mp3. There is still some noise but at the moment this is the best I seem to be able to do using help videos from Audacity and from Librivox. I'm going to try to create a "sound damper" around my computer to improve it further. I did a lot of practice recordings and processing to try to improve the other issues such as volume and tone. I'm not where I want it to be but hope this recording is sufficiently good for this project.
