yes it's scary when it happens, because you realize you cannot trust your senses anymore. :?

Well, I'm glad it's sorted out now :)

thanks

edit: I have become aware that I forgot to introduce the character, I'll add that along with any other corrections.

Hello Priamedes (sounds like a great name for recording Plautus!),

Very nicely read. I love the turmoil your bring out in this reading.
PL Notes

As you indicated, you did not record your introduction. Please use " Charinus, son of Demipho, who is in love with Pasicompsa, read by <name>", <name> can be Priamedes, or (if that is not your real name) your real name as you wish.

1:19 "not by my troth" should be "nor by my troth"
5:47 "from time to time" s/b "from the time"
7:17 missed line "CHAR. (apart). He brings news of some misfortune, I know not what." p139
(optional) 8:02 pronunciation, I believe "I' faith" is a contraction of "in faith", so I would pronounce the vowel as in "in".
12:45 missing line "CHAR. What did she answer?" p143

Regards,
Adrian

Dorippa lines 11:35 mins.
Thank you, Felicia. Very nicely read, I loved your weeping and indignation!

There is a technical problem in this recording. There is a strong low-frequency tone (at about 23Hz). Your speech is only about 9dB above this tone.
Anybody listening to these on decent speakers will feel a constant deep thudding sound during your parts.

I went back to your 1-minute test. The same low frequency was present there, but much quieter.

You do need to clean this up in this recording.
I used one round of noise reduction (18dB reduction) followed by a high pass filter set to 50 Hz / 12dB per octave, which reduced it well down.
For future, I would do some investigation of where the noise is coming from. Far better to not have it there in the first place (if possible) than remove in post.

Other PL Notes:
page 163
at 19s, "come back" should be "came back"
at 25s, when there is a stage direction, you should leave the usual amount of time between lines (4s) so that the editor can locate where to cut and paste visually. Please extend this gap.
1:08 "and that thy" should be "and that in thy"
1:35 missed line "DOR. Is it so, really? "
(optional) 2:43 pronunciation of "I' troth" - the "I'" is a contraction of "in", so I would personally expect it pronounced as "in troth" without the "n". It's not a big deal, so up to you whether you want to fix it.
4:25 "you know who she is" s/b "don't you know..."
(optional) 6:02 "she has either hardened into stone" s/b "...hardened into a stone"
6:24 "I shan't together believe" s/b "I shan't altogether ..."
7:14 "has determined to tell" s/b "has he determined..."
(optional) 8:37 pronunciation of "I' faith", which is a contraction of "in faith"
10:15 "he truly wise" s/b "he's truly wise"
10:25 "I do know that" s/b "I do know it" (p173)

If any of this doesn't make sense, do say so quickly, and I'll explain.
If it would be helpful, I can jump on a zoom and talk you through.

Best Regards,
Adrian Stephens

Hello Felicia,

Regarding the issue with a high background level low-frequency noise, you have addressed this issue from about 4:26 onwards. You need to correct the initial part up to 4:26.

Otherwise your edits have been correctly made.

Hello Felicia,
You can make the background noise more evident by going to Edit/Preferences, and set Tracks/Default Waveform to "Logarithmic (db)".
This relates to how the ear actually hears, and squashes the peaks and emphasises the low level sounds.

I can go into more detail if you like.

Adrian
