The Nth Commandment

The volume is too low. Please amplify by about 4dB.

Hi Lynnet,

Here's the amended version. I raised the level to 21.86 RMS (it was around 18 before), with peak levels at 6 (this was the optimum level accepted by the ACX check).

I'm new to Audacity, so please let me know if this works. In the original version, I applied a limiter to smooth down the peaks--I'm wondering if that caused the overall RMS to decrease too much?

Please let me know. Here it is, and thanks!

Please note our specs are different from ACX.

Hi Lynnet,

Do I need to amend it again, or are the sound levels okay?

Thanks!

This is exactly the same as before regarding volume. We are looking for 89dB.

Hi Lynnet,

I think I got it right this time. I raised it by more than 4 decibels with the MP3Gain app and then ran it through the LibriVox Checker.

Please let me know if this is okay.

Thanks!

This is so close, I'm going to say PL OK, but it's definitely something you will need to work on in future.

Hi Lynnet,

I can tweak it some more if you wish. According to MP3Gain, it was around 89.4 decibels--I was having trouble getting it lower, but I can certainly work on it to get it exactly to 89--just let me know.

I think that putting a "limiter" on the file is what caused the problem--I won't do that again. I'm new to Audacity, so this is part of the learning curve!

Anyway, I'll gladly work on it some more--just let me know!

Thanks,

Thanks, but I'm already in the process of cataloguing the project. Just waiting for it to finish deriving, which I'm hoping will be in the next few minutes.
