Oh, this is wonderful: I never would have expected that this book would be full of surprises... but it is! The return of Gobo! But of course things do not bode well for the poor little guy, fool that he is. Whatever dire fate awaits him (and surely it is something dire), I hope it will just at least be quick...
I've marked all these sections PL OK, and I'm eagerly awaiting the next chapters!

Oh, alas for poor Gobo! The way Salten set that up perfectly, with Bambi and the old stag talking about him in the preceding chapter... and it's not like the others did not try to warn him! But this time Gobo will not be coming back I'm sure.

I'm guessing Faline will need to have a fawn or two of her own before this is over, so I am waiting to see what happens next with much curiosity! And I'll go mark these both PL OK. Thank you for making the listening so easy!

Oh, what a marvelous pair of chapters: the old stag certainly has turned out to be an admirable character! And you also did a beautiful job with the sedge-hen's voice. I really like how Salten makes even the minor characters stand out (like the charming screech-owl last time). I've marked these both PL OK, and I'm excited to see what comes next, but I'll also be sad when this comes to an end. Every chapter has been such a delight!

This has been one of the most enjoyable yet challenging reads...just about every bird and critter in the forest gets to talk!
I thought the author captured so simply the shades of emotions from joy, sadness and horror to calm acceptance as Bambi matured and I loved how well Salten described the voice and character of the creatures so succinctly.
I"m off on three weeks holiday from SAturday, so apart from any re-doing this is goodbye to Bambi and the forest creatures....thank you Laura and Rapunzelina for joining in this project, hope you had fun! cheers, Anne

Wow, what an amazing book: I love the way the ending was about Bambi remembering back to the beginning of his life, so we got to remember back to the beginning of the book too, and he really has been transformed into the Prince now, step by step, year by year, we saw it happen. And I was so glad that the old stag got to just go off to his resting place, instead of getting shot. (I was so afraid he would get shot.)

Meanwhile, that scene with the fox and the animals' confrontation with the dog was incredible. Your dog-voice was perfect: a combination of barking and baying and speaking. I just cannot say enough good things about your performance: you are exactly the reader that this book needed and deserved, and it has been a total pleasure to listen to. I am sorry it is over, but also very excited for all the people who will get to listen now!!!

So, I marked these final chapters in the MW and now it is the magic 100%. Yay! Congratulations to you on a BRILLIANT job.

.......and if you need someone to DPL for any solo project you do in the future, I would be glad to. I always enjoy prooflistening, and you made this the easiest prooflistening ever. :-)

Not sure if people are still subscribed to this forum, but I wanted to let you know that the Internet Archive blog post finally came out, and they gave me a chance to highlight the BEAUTIFUL job that Anne did with this reading... hopefully it will bring some more listeners to the book!
The blog post at Internet Archive is here:
https://blog.archive.org/2024/04/29/new-audiobook-anthology-highlights-public-domain-folktales-from-1928/

Long story, but I've been doing volunteer bibliography work for Internet Archive for the past several years, and so they were curious to get my perspective as a volunteer at LibriVox, and of course it was just my pleasure to tell them all about it!
