No need, we've got our answer. We are sure he died 1940, so yes, this is PD for "death+70" countries. I'll get the author added to the system soon.

Thank you. I appreciate your desire to protect Val from doing anything she might regret having done. Very brotherly of you and I respect you for it. Are you two related?
If I were you I'd claim a Gold-Killer role. Just sayin'

Here is Professor Hipmus for The Woggle Bug Book:

I figured I would go ahead and record these few lines in the event that this project moves forward quickly.
Take care,
Greg

Seriously? No claim on the old "Flower Lady" in This Finer Shadow? Hard for me to fathom that!
I mean to tell you. When the bottom fell out and it all came crashing down those high-flying, fully leveraged captains of finance couldn't face it. They surrendered their lives, or at least many of them did. Not her! Her life is sacred and she maintained her dignity! She grows beautiful flowers and sells them on the street and fends for herself and she is proud of that fact. The world needs beautiful flowers - you know you do! Even in the bad times! Especially in the bad times! She won't lay down and wilt and whimper. And she won't let you do that if she can help it. Sure, you can't buy a pretty bouquet from her. But gosh darn it, you can respect her and give her a "wish" when you portray her. She deserves at least as much and so do you!
Cheers.

Yes! Please! I know it's not a big part. But I don't doubt for a minute that you will maker her memorable. Thank you, Winnifred.

Here’s Deane placating poor Martin... I think?

Nice to see our Flower Lady and Flirty Lady officially have voices too!

Placating is a perfectly fine way of putting it, I suppose!
My guess is that:
Is the 1930-40's book equivalent of storm clouds passing over or waves crashing ashore that you'd see in films of that era. I think it was really the censors that were placated. But that's just my guess and, honestly, I kind of miss the subtlety, or was it innocence, of those days. I just want Martin to be happy , perhaps... Deane? Sure, why not? She should be happy too! Just kidding, of course.Once more, reality became a dream, and night pushed inward....

What I hear is very, very good. What I don't hear surely would be as well (0:36):valroth wrote: ↑April 23rd, 2024, 9:30 am Chapter 9: The Finer Shadow

Deane: “Don’t act that way now. You said you were hungry.”
I could leave out Martin's reply" -
Martin: “For you,”
- if that would make Deane feel more comfortable. But I'm not sure what DPL would have to say about it. Probably depends on who does DPL.
Speaking of hungry! All of Deane's talk of bacon and eggs and fixing dinner has made me hungry. And I have to wait a couple of hours for dinner! I wonder what sort of snacks are in the pantry here. I'm gonna go rustle up some grub.
Thanks, Val, but I'm going to put the blame on redrun and say that he probably won't let us get by without that line. Rules are rules! I do promise (yeah, right!) to stop acting this way and if not now, then in the future (but I need to be told how to behave myself!).
