I hadn't realised we were both talking about the same anecdote!

I've uploaded chapter 7 - Club Life at the 'Cheese'

But I've no idea of what was meant by the line "If Fashion's forms its current freeze..." in "Envoi" at about 1430, so I may have the emphasis/intonation wrong. If you can suggest a meaning, I could re-record.

And here's chapter 8, Dr Johnson's Homes and Haunts, the shortest so far, at under three minutes.

It mentions him living in Gough Square. Looking at the map, Gough Square, where Johnson spent part of his life, seems to be in an area that I've never wandered round. I'll have a look today or tomorrow.

Like you, I have no idea what "If Fashion's forms its current freeze..." means but it sounded perfect the way you read it.

Those poor fellas must have been sorely disappointed to see that pudding fall and the waiter absolutely devastated to have been the one who dropped it.

~:15 'Resurgam' is missing right before the opening quote

~6:09 'pervades the place' is missing from "that fine winter lining for the hungry—pervades the place and so the season goes round."

~8:21 Text is "One after another the awed and hungry crowd put their hats on and departed, with sorrowful faces and watering mouths.”-- I don't know that this one matters but just in case 'hats' was read 'coats'
