Danish History, by Saxo Grammaticus

I was led to this book by the TV show "Vikings," which is where I first heard of Ragnar Lothbrok and his family, and their many adventures. I thought it would be fun to record at least Ragnar's story (from Book Nine) for any other potential listeners who may have been inspired as I was to learn more about the stories. Alas, the pronunciation of the Norse names is beyond me, so I wouldn't feel comfortable recording it!

The actual History itself includes much more than Ragnar's story, but still it isn't as long as it may appear -- there are over 100 pages of introductory material that perhaps could be omitted. I think it would make a valuable addition to the Librivox catalog for some enterprising reader!

This book was the main source for Shakespeare's Hamlet. The tale of "Amleth" begins on page 106 in book 3 and continues into book 4.
